Noroc is a music group from Moldova, created in 1967 by Mihai Dolgan.
"Noroc" became very popular in the USSR [1] [2] after the release of their first album in 1968 which included the following songs:
In 1970, "Noroc" won the "public sympathy" prize at the "Bratislava Lyra" festival . [3] Later the same year, after a tour of the Ukraine, "Noroc" was banned as a result of a direct order by Ivan Bodiul, [4] Chief Secretary of the Communist Party of the Moldavian Soviet Socialist Republic, due to "lack of discipline", "promotion of artistic values of poor quality", and "lack of healthy ideological orientation". [3] Between the years 1974-1985 the band was reorganized by Mihai Dolgan under the name "Contemporanul". After 1985, "Contemporanul" reverted to the original name "Noroc". Since 1989 and up to Mihai Dolgan's death in 2008, "Noroc"'s permanent vocalists were: Lidia Botezatu, Radu Dolgan, Mihai Dolgan.
The word "noroc" means "good luck" in the Moldovan language. This word is also used as a greeting. "Noroc" is also said while toasting (the Moldovan equivalent of "cheers").

Bălți is a city in Moldova. It is the second largest city in terms of population, area and economic importance, after Chișinău. The city holds the status of municipiu. Sometimes called "the northern capital", it is a major industrial, cultural and commercial centre and transportation hub in the north of the country. It is situated 127 kilometres (79 mi) north of the capital Chișinău, and is located on the river Răut, a tributary of the Dniester, on a hilly landscape in the Bălți steppe.

Dan Bălan is a Moldovan musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer. He is the founder of Moldovan eurodance band O-Zone, and wrote their international hit single "Dragostea Din Tei", which topped the charts in 32 countries and sold 12 million copies worldwide.
The unification of Moldova and Romania is a popular concept in the two countries that began during the Revolutions of 1989. The Romanian Revolution in 1989 and the independence of Moldova in 1991 further contributed to the development of a movement for the unification of the two Romanian-speaking countries. The question of reunification is recurrent in the public sphere of the two countries, often as a speculation, both as a goal and a danger. Though historically Romanian support for unification was high, a March 2022 survey following the Russian invasion of Ukraine indicated that only 11% of Romania's population supports an immediate union, while over 42% think it is not the right moment.
Grigore Vieru was a Moldovan poet, writer and unionist advocate, known for his poems and books for children. His poetry is characterized by vivid natural scenery, patriotism, as well as a venerated image of the sacred mother. Vieru wrote in the Romanian language. In 1993 he was elected a correspondent member of the Romanian Academy.

DiscO-Zone is the third and final album by the Moldovan band O-Zone. It was first released on August 13, 2003, in multiple countries throughout Europe. Produced by the band, the album features their hit singles "Dragostea Din Tei " and "Despre Tine ". It was a commercial success in many European countries, particularly in Portugal where it hit number one for eight consecutive weeks and was in the top 30 for 26 weeks, and it also reached the top ten in Wallonia, Belgium, Poland, Norway, Switzerland, and Finland. In France, it only reached number 15 but stayed in the top 200 for 36 weeks. In Japan it reached the number one position in its 24th week on the chart.
Romania participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 in Belgrade, Serbia. They selected their entry, "Pe-o margine de lume", by Romanian singers Nico and Vlad through the national selection competition Selecția Națională 2008 in February 2008. Controversy surrounded the event, as the organising broadcaster, Romanian Television (TVR), was accused of conspiracy, and the song reviewed for plagiarism. Prior to the 2008 contest, Romania had participated in the Eurovision Song Contest ten times since its first entry in 1994. Its highest placing in the contest had been third place, which the nation achieved in 2005. In 2007, Romania finished in 13th place.
Colea Răutu was a Romanian actor, born in Bălți. He played in more than fifty movies and TV series, among other the western film Apachen, the Romanian TV series Toate pînzele sus, and the prize-winning film Răscoala.

The Order of Honour can be awarded also to organizations, institutions, etc.
