The North Central Correctional Facility is a minimum security prison located in the Calhoun County community of Rockwell City, Iowa. [1] The facility opened in 1982, on the site of the 1918 Iowa Women's Reformatory.
Currently [update] the institution has about 90 staff members and approximately 502 inmates. The North Central Correctional Facility houses mainly low risk offenders. It offers a variety of educational services, and has contracted with a community college to provide services. Some of the educational services include helping inmates earn their GEDs, special education, and a self study program in 120 subject areas. The facility offers a number of work programs for inmates both on and off the grounds of the facility. There are jobs that provide on-the-job training in welding, woodwork, master gardening, plumbing, and others.

The Correctional Industrial Facility, otherwise known as the CIF, is an Indiana Department of Corrections prison located in Fall Creek Township, Madison County, near Pendleton. It is a medium-security prison.As of 2019, the prison housed 1,471 inmates, and employed 307 staff.. Constructed in 1985, CIF formerly housed the Indiana Department of Correction's PEN food products plant. However, the food products plant was replaced by a brake refurbishing factory in partnership with the industrial company Meritor, which is the largest employer of offenders in the facility. Wendy Knight is the current Warden of CIF.
The Patuxent Institution is located in Jessup, Maryland one mile east of US Route 1 on Maryland Route 175. It is a treatment-oriented maximum-security correctional facility. With a maximum static capacity of 987 beds, it offers the most diverse services to the most varied male and female offender population in the state, and possibly in the nation. Patuxent Institution is the only institution for sentenced criminals in Maryland that is not part of the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services. Its foundation lies in the Maryland Public General Law, codified as Title 4 of the Correctional Services Article. The predecessor of this statute, Article 31B of the Public General Laws of Maryland, was enacted in 1951.
