North Karelia (formerly Kuopio East) was an electoral district represented in the Finnish Eduskunta (parliament). In 2013 it was merged with Northern Savonia electoral district to form the Savonia-Karelia electoral district. It covered the administrative region of North Karelia, with a population of 169,722 (as of 2002 [update] ). North Karelia elected six members of the Eduskunta, when in 2005 there were still seven seats.
The constituency was largely rural, centred on the city of Joensuu. The largest party in the Finnish parliamentary elections has traditionally been the Centre Party.
The reduction of seats caused the Green League leader Tarja Cronberg to lose her seat in 2007 elections, even she got 11,7% and second the most votes in constituency.

Parliamentary elections were held in Finland on 16 March 2003. The Centre Party led by Anneli Jäätteenmäki overtook the Social Democratic Party (SDP) to become the largest party in the Eduskunta. This was credited mainly to Jäätteenmäki's powerful leadership and modernization of the party still often viewed as agrarian and conservative by many. However, the SDP actually won some seats and increased its share of the vote, losing in the number of total popular votes only by a few thousand.
Eero Olavi Heinäluoma is a Finnish politician who has been serving as Member of the European Parliament since 2019. A former chairman of the Finnish Social Democratic Party, he was replaced in the party's leadership by Jutta Urpilainen in June 2008. He was Speaker of the Parliament of Finland 2011–2015.
Varsinais-Suomi is one of the 13 electoral districts of the Parliament of Finland, the national legislature of Finland. The district was established as Turku and Pori Province South in 1907 when the Diet of Finland was replaced by the Parliament of Finland. It was renamed Varsinais-Suomi in 1997. It was renamed Helsinki in 1997. It is conterminous with the municipality of Helsinki. At the 2023 parliamentary election it had 546,375 registered electors.

Kymi is an electoral district represented in the Finnish Eduskunta (parliament). It covers the administrative regions of South Karelia and Kymenlaakso in south-eastern Finland, with a combined population of about 322,000. Kymi currently elects 12 members of the Eduskunta.
Lapland is a Finnish constituency represented in the eduskunta. It covers the administrative region of Lapland, with a population, as of its most recent accessible calculation in 2002, of 187,777. Lapland currently elects seven members to the eduskunta.The constituency is largely rural, and the only cities in the area are small. Thus, the dominant party has traditionally been the rural Centre Party. The second party that holds major influence in the area is the SKDL/Left Alliance. The other two major Finnish parties, the social democratic SDP and conservative NCP have usually received one of the seats in the constituency. The NCP has often allied with the Christian Democrats.
Northern Savonia was an electoral district represented in the Finnish Eduskunta (parliament). Since 2013 it has been part of the Savonia Karelia electoral district. It covered the administrative region of Northern Savonia, with a population of about 251,000. Northern Savonia currently elects ten members of the Eduskunta.

Southern Savonia was an electoral district represented in the Finnish Eduskunta (parliament). It covered the administrative region of Southern Savonia, with a population of 163,276. Southern Savonia elected six members of the Eduskunta. The electoral district was merged with Kymi to form the new Southeastern Finland district.

At the 2023 parliamentary election it had 801,205 registered electors.
Vaasa is one of the 13 electoral districts of the Parliament of Finland, the national legislature of Finland. The district was established in 1960 by the merger of Vaasa Province North and Vaasa Province South districts. It is conterminous with the regions of Central Ostrobothnia, Ostrobothnia and South Ostrobothnia. For the Poor is a Finnish political party, not situated anywhere on the traditional political map. It was founded in November 2002. The party is one of the smallest in Finland, as it has no seats in either the Parliament of Finland or the European Parliament, and has only ever held one municipal council seat in the city council of Espoo (2008–2012).

Parliamentary elections were held in Finland on 14 April 2019. For the first time, no party received more than 20% of the vote. The Centre Party, which had been the largest party following the 2015 elections, dropped to fourth place, losing 18 seats and recording its lowest vote share since 1917. The Social Democratic Party saw the biggest gains, winning six more seats and narrowly becoming the largest party for the first time since 1999. The Green League and the Left Alliance also gained five and four seats respectively.
Hannu Tapio Hoskonen is a Finnish politician currently serving in the Parliament of Finland for the Centre Party at the Savonia-Karelia constituency.
