North London NHS Foundation Trust (NLFT) is an NHS foundation trust which provides mental health services in the London Boroughs of Barnet, Enfield, Haringey and Islington.
The trust was established on 1 November 2024 by the merger of Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust and Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust. [1] The new trust has a combined annual budget of £670 million and employs about 6,000 staff. [2]

The London Borough of Barnet is a local authority area on the northern outskirts of London. The borough was formed in 1965 from parts of the ceremonial counties of Middlesex and Hertfordshire. It is the second largest London borough by population with 389,344 inhabitants as of 2021, also making it the 17th largest district in England. Whittington Hospital is a district general and teaching hospital of UCL Medical School and Middlesex University School of Health and Social Sciences. Located in Upper Holloway, it is managed by Whittington Health NHS Trust, operating as Whittington Health, an integrated care organisation providing hospital and community health services in the north London boroughs of Islington and Haringey. Its Jenner Building, a former smallpox hospital, is a Grade II listed building.
Strategic health authorities (SHA) were part of the structure of the National Health Service in England between 2002 and 2013. The London Government Act 1963 is an act of the Parliament of the United Kingdom, which created Greater London and a new local government structure within it. The Act significantly reduced the number of local government districts in the area, resulting in local authorities responsible for larger areas and populations. The upper tier of local government was reformed to cover the whole of the Greater London area and with a more strategic role; and the split of functions between upper and lower tiers was recast. The Act classified the boroughs into inner and outer London groups. The City of London and its corporation were essentially unreformed by the legislation. Subsequent amendments to the Act have significantly amended the upper tier arrangements, with the Greater London Council abolished in 1986, and the Greater London Authority introduced in 2000. As of 2024, the London boroughs are more or less identical to those created in 1965, although with some enhanced powers over services such as waste management and education.

Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust (BEH) is a large provider of integrated mental health and community health services in North London, providing services across Barnet, Enfield, and Haringey. The trust currently employs around 3,000 staff and serves a population of just over a million. The annual income in 2017-18 was c. £210 million.

North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust is an NHS trust which runs North Middlesex University Hospital in Edmonton, London and community services in Enfield. The trust serves more than 350,000 people living in the London boroughs of Enfield and Haringey, as well as the nearby boroughs of Barnet and Waltham Forest. It works closely with the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust and although the board voted against full membership of the Royal Free London group in October 2018, plans are again on the table for a full merger between the trusts as soon as from summer 2024.
Whittington Health NHS Trust is an NHS trust in London, England, that manages the Whittington Hospital. It primarily serves the London boroughs of Islington and Haringey, but also provides some services to the London boroughs of Barnet, Camden, Enfield and Hackney. It runs the Michael Palin Centre for Stammering Children.
