Northcrest was a city in north central McLennan County, Texas (USA). The city's name came from its location (six miles) north of Waco and its elevation, which is the highest in the Waco area.

Northcrest was incorporated as a city in February 1958 with a mayor-council form of government. The city's population was 625 in 1960. By 1970, that figure had risen to 1,669 as it developed into a primarily residential community with an economy heavily dependent on nearby cities.
In the late 1980s, Northcrest was home to approximately 2,200 residents. That number fell to 1,725 by 1990. Northcrest merged with the neighboring city of Lacy Lakeview in 1998.

Alexander James Moore Academy was a magnet high school in the Waco ISD district in Waco, TX. A.J. Moore was designed to prepare students for success in post secondary education and in the workplace. Students were prepared to excel academically, physically and socially. Special emphasis was placed on business, engineering, entrepreneurship, technology, and post-secondary education. In February 2012, the Waco Independent School District decided in part, avoiding a $3.4 million budget shortfall, to close and consolidate A. J. Moore Academy with University High School. On June 2, 2012, A.J. Moore Academy gave diplomas to its last graduating class. A. J. Moore Academy existed as a stand-alone school for 14 years.

U.S. Route 77 Business is a business loop of US 77 in Waco.
The highway is the old alignment of US 77 through the city and was formerly signed as a US 77 & US 81 Business Route, but designated as Loop 491 on October 2, 1970 until it was changed to the current Business US 77 designation on June 21, 1990. The section of highway from Loop 484 to US 84 is a freeway, making it the only business route in Texas that is a freeway.
A split intersection is a rarely built at-grade variant of the diamond interchange. Compared to a conventional four-leg intersection or road crossing, the arterial road is split into separate carriageways by 200 to 300 feet, allowing a queue of left turning vehicles behind a completed turn into the crossroad without any conflict to oncoming traffic. On the crossroad, the four leg intersection is being replaced by two intersections. The beginning one-way traffic at the fourth leg makes the intersections reduce the number of conflicts similar to a three leg T-intersection to improve traffic flow.
