The Northern Illinois Huskies women's basketball team is the college basketball team that represent Northern Illinois University (NIU) in DeKalb, Illinois, United States. The school's team currently competes in the Mid-American Conference (MAC). The team last played in the NCAA Division I women's basketball tournament in 1995. The Huskies are coached by Lisa Carlsen.

The Huskies were led by third-year head coach Jerry Kill during the regular season and for the MAC title game before KIll resigned to become the head football coach at the University of Minnesota. Tom Matukewicz was appointed interim head coach for the bowl game. The team played home games at Huskie Stadium in DeKalb, Illinois.

The Huskies, led by interim head coach Lamar Chapman, played their home games at the Convocation Center in DeKalb, Illinois as members of the Mid-American Conference. In a season limited due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Huskies finished the season 3–16, 2–12 in MAC play to finish in last place. They failed to qualify for the MAC tournament which had been limited to provide that the bottom four finishers would not be eligible. The MAC also announced the removal of divisions in cost-cutting measure partly attributed to COVID-19.

The 2022–23 Mid-American Conference women's basketball season is the season for Mid-American Conference women's basketball teams. It began with practices in October 2022, followed by the start of the 2022–23 NCAA Division I women's basketball season in November. Conference play will began in January 2022 and concluded in March 2022. The 2023 MAC tournament was scheduled to be held at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland, Ohio for the 23rd consecutive season.

Lisa Carlsen is an American women's basketball coach and former basketball player. She is currently the women's basketball head coach at Northern Illinois University. She previously served as the women's basketball head coach at Lewis University and the University of Nebraska Omaha.
