Walker County is a county located in the northwestern part of the U.S. state of Georgia. As of the 2020 census, the population was 67,654, down from 68,756 in 2010. The county seat is LaFayette. The county was created on December 18, 1833, from land formerly belonging to the Cherokee Indian Nation. Walker County is part of the Chattanooga TN/GA Metropolitan Statistical Area.

The Northwest Georgia Council is a local council of the Boy Scouts of America which currently encompasses Bartow, Chattooga, Floyd, Gordon, Murray, Polk, and Whitfield counties. In the early 1980s, affiliations with Catoosa and Murray counties were transferred to the Cherokee Area Council of Chattanooga, Tennessee, but associations with Murray county were later returned to the Northwest Georgia Council in 1995. The first troop chartered by the Northwest Georgia Council was Troop 12 of Dalton, Georgia, which was established by Mr. W. M. Sapp on March 14, 1911. The council's oldest continually chartered troop, Troop 12 of Adairsville, Georgia, was chartered soon after in 1915. The headquarters of the Northwest Georgia Council are located in Rome, Georgia. The current Scout Executive for the Northwest Georgia Council is Rob Stone.

The Malaysia–Thailand Joint Development Area is a 7,250 km square area in the Gulf of Thailand which was created as an interim measure to exploit the natural resources in the seabed or continental shelf claimed by the two countries and to share the proceeds equally. The arrangement does not extinguish the legal right to claims by both countries over the area. This is one of the first applications of the joint development a memorandum of understanding on 21 February 1979 in Chiang Mai, Thailand for the establishment of the joint development area and authority to administer the area. This was followed by an agreement to constitute the joint development authority on 30 May 1990 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
State Route 157 (SR 157) is a 39.1-mile-long (62.9 km) state highway that travels south-to-north through portions of Chattooga, Walker, and Dade counties in the northwestern part of the U.S. state of Georgia.
U.S. Highway 27 (US 27) is a 356.088-mile-long (573.068 km) United States Numbered Highway in the U.S. state of Georgia. It travels south-to-north through the western part of the state near the Alabama state line. The whole route is Governor's Road Improvement Program (GRIP) corridor EDS-27, providing the bulk of the Tallahassee, Florida–Chattanooga, Tennessee corridor. All of US 27 in Georgia runs concurrently with State Route 1 (SR 1) and is also designated as the Martha Berry Highway. It connects Bainbridge, Colquitt, Blakely, Cuthbert, Lumpkin, Cusseta, Columbus, LaGrange, Carrollton, Bremen, Cedartown, Rome, Summerville, LaFayette, Fort Oglethorpe, and Rossville.

Colton Chase Moore is an American auctioneer and politician who represents Georgia's 53rd Senate District in the Georgia State Senate. He previously represented Georgia's 1st House District in the Georgia State House of Representatives from January 14, 2019 to January 14, 2021. At 24 years old, he was the youngest elected official ever from Dade County, Georgia, and is a supporter of former President Donald Trump. On September 28, 2023, the Georgia Senate Republican Caucus indefinitely suspended Moore for attacking his Republican colleagues. Moore was later banned from the House floor in March 2024 for making inappropriate comments during a day of remembrance for late Speaker David Ralston.
The Walker County Messenger is a weekly broadsheet newspaper published in LaFayette, Georgia, distributed throughout the greater Walker county area of northwest Georgia. It was the first newspaper to be published in LaFayette, Walker County, and was recently purchased by Times-Journal Inc., a Marietta, Georgia-based company which owns over five Georgia newspapers. The current president and editor of the newspaper is Don Stilwell.
