The Norwegian Physical Society (Norwegian : Norsk fysisk selskap) is a professional society in Norway for physicists. Formed in 1953, [1] its purpose is to promote research, public understanding and cooperation within physics. Its magazine, first published in 1939, [2] is Fra Fysikkens Verden.

The Chair of the society is Åshild Fredriksen. [3] The society consists of six scientific sub-groups as well as the Norwegian Physics Teachers' Association, [1] which have one member of the board each. [3]

Jahn Otto Johansen was a Norwegian journalist, newspaper editor, foreign correspondent and non-fiction writer.

Norsk Forurensningskontroll AS or NFK was a specialized Norwegian aviation company and aircraft operator, with a fleet of four de Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter aircraft. The company was founded in 1983 and initially intended to operate the aircraft to apply dispersants on oil spills at sea, as a part of the national oil spill defense system. However, due to oil companies, departemental and government politics the company failed to establish such a service and instead operated the aircraft for charter, before deciding to liquidate the company in the autumn of 1986. The airline had its main base at Bodø Airport, and was planning to establish oil-spill protection bases at Hammerfest Airport and Kristiansund Airport, Kvernberget. During its existence the company co-operated closely with Widerøe, which was approved by the authorities as the operators maintenance organization.

The Danish Physical Society is the national association for physics for Denmark. As such, it is also one of the 41 members of the European Physical Society, and contributes to joint European projects such as the ALICE Collaboration. The Society produces a journal titled Kvant, and also seeks to promote the inclusion of more women in physics through its Network for Women in Physics. This arm of the association also awards the Women in Physics Prize from the Danish Physical Society on an annual basis.
