Nostra Catalunya Trophy

The Nostra Catalunya Trophy (Catalan : Torneig Nostra Catalunya) was an annual pre-season football competition hosted by RCD Espanyol between 1974 and 1990. The guests were the best Catalan teams of the previous season excluding Espanyol and FC Barcelona.

Contents

The competition was a four team tournament and included two semi-finals and a final played before the Ciutat de Barcelona Trophy. For the first competition in 1974, the four teams were Gimnàstic de Tarragona, Girona FC, UE Lleida and UE Sant Andreu. [1]

FC Espanya de Barcelona, was a Spanish Catalan football club based in Barcelona. They enjoyed a golden age during the 1910s and were Catalan champions three times during the decade. They were also Copa del Rey runners-up in 1914. By 1923 the club had changed its name to Gràcia FC and in 1932 it merged with CE Europa.

Domènec Balmanya i Perera, also referred to as Domingo Balmaña, was a former Spanish football midfielder and manager who spent most of his playing career at FC Barcelona. As a manager, he guided CF Barcelona to the a Copa del Generalísimo win in 1957. He then had moderately successful spells at Valencia CF, Real Betis and CD Málaga before he guided Atlético Madrid to a La Liga title in 1966. He subsequently managed Spain between 1966 and 1968. After retiring as a coach he worked as a director of sport at both RCD Espanyol and FC Barcelona and as a director at a Catalan coaching school. He also worked as a radio commentator.

The Mediterranean League, also referred to as the Lliga Mediterrània (Catalan), the Liga Mediterránea (Spanish) or La Liga del Mediterráneo, was a football league played in the Republican area of Spain during the Spanish Civil War. The league, played out in early 1937, was won by FC Barcelona. Clubs from the league also competed in a cup competition, the Copa de la España Libre. By 1938 the Republican area was divided and a second Mediterranean League season proved impossible to organise. However an alternative Lliga Catalana, also won by FC Barcelona, was arranged.

The Derbi Barceloní, is the name given to football matches between FC Barcelona and RCD Espanyol. Both clubs are located in the Barcelona metropolitan area, Spain.

The Hispania Athletic Club Tournament–Alfonso Macaya Cup, popularly known as the Copa Macaya, was a football competition contested by clubs from Catalonia which ran from 1900 until 1903, disappearing at the same time of its organizers, Hispania AC, who won the first edition in 1901. Initially, the championship was open to all Spanish clubs, thus some historians consider this cup to be the first national championship in Spain, as well as the predecessor and forerunner for the Catalan football championship which began in 1903. Until that point, the teams founded at the end of 1899 and during 1900 had been limited to playing friendly games only. The Copa Catalunya Femenina is a knockout competition organised by the Catalan Football Federation for women's football clubs in the Catalonia autonomous community of Spain. Since its establishment in 2005 it has been dominated by FC Barcelona and RCD Espanyol, with ten and five titles respectively: it ran for 15 consecutive years, with all but one final being contested by both teams. The competition was suspended in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic; upon its relaunch in 2022 it was branded as the Copa Catalunya Amateur Femenina, and neither Barcelona nor Espanyol entered.

The 1931–32 season is FC Barcelona's 33rd in existence, and was their 4th year in the Primera División. It covers the period from 1931-08-01 to 1932-07-31.
