Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti were Italian immigrant anarchists who were controversially accused of murdering Alessandro Berardelli and Frederick Parmenter, a guard and a paymaster, during the April 15, 1920, armed robbery of the Slater and Morrill Shoe Company in Braintree, Massachusetts, United States. Seven years later, they were executed in the electric chair at Charlestown State Prison.

It contains two stories; the first, Christmas with Karadzic, about tracking down and meeting the Bosnian Serb leader Radovan Karadžić, and the second, Soba, about contemporary artist from Sarajevo, Nebojsa Seric - Shoba, who was at the time student at Art Academy Sarajevo and member of local cult bend but he was drafted into army of Bosnia and Herzegovina because of the Siege of Sarajevo. Shoba currently lives and works in New York City.
Joseph William Sacco is an American former National Hockey League player and currently an assistant coach for the Boston Bruins. His younger brother David Sacco also played in the NHL.
David Anthony Sacco is an American former professional ice hockey player. Drafted 195th overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 1988 NHL Entry Draft, Sacco played 35 games in the National Hockey League between 1994 and 1996 with the Maple Leafs and Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, scoring a total of 5 goals and 13 assists for 18 points and collecting 22 penalty minutes. He represented the United States as part of the US national ice hockey team at the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer. He spent one season in Switzerland for SC Bern before retiring.

Ballads of Sacco & Vanzetti is a set of ballad songs, written and performed by Woody Guthrie, related to the trial, conviction and execution of Sacco and Vanzetti. The series was commissioned by Moe Asch in 1945 and recorded in 1946 and 1947. Guthrie never completed the project and was unsatisfied by the result. The project was released later in its abandoned form by Asch.

The Khan Yunis massacre took place on 3 November 1956 in the Palestinian town of Khan Yunis and the nearby refugee camp of the same name in the Gaza Strip during the Suez Crisis.
The Rafah massacre occurred on November 12, 1956, during Israel's occupation of the Sinai Peninsula and Gaza Protectorate following the Suez Crisis. The town of Rafah, lying on the Egypt–Gaza border, had been one of two invasion points during the initial incursion by the Israel Defense Forces into the Strip on November 1. The festival was established in 1992 as the Luzern Comix Festival, before growing in size and renaming itself in 2003. The festival has helped Switzerland's comics community unify and grow, crossing the divide between the differing language barriers within the country.
