Ayman Abd El Aziz Nour is an Egyptian politician, a former member of the Egyptian Parliament, founder and chairman of the El Ghad party. Nour was the first man to ever compete against President Hosni Mubarak in the 2005 presidential election. However shortly after announcing his candidacy, Nour was stripped of his parliamentary immunity and arrested on 29 January 2005, a move that was widely criticized by governments around the world as a step backwards for Egyptian democracy. Due to international pressure, Nour was released to participate in the election and was unsuccessful. The election was widely considered to be a corrupt and rigged election. He was arrested again shortly after and released nearly five years later. Nour left Egypt following the 2013 Egyptian coup d'état and spent time in Lebanon for treatment of a wound he sustained while in prison. Nour now resides in Istanbul, Turkey and expresses his hope for returning to Egypt.

It is also a merit-based method used for determining entry and seeding in women's squash tournaments. The rankings have been produced monthly then weekly since the 29th of August 2022. The current world number one is Nour El Sherbini of Egypt, who replaced Nouran Gohar in May 2023.
Nour El Sherbini is an Egyptian professional squash player. She is a seven time World champion and became the youngest woman to win the Women's World Championship (2015). In 2016, she retained her title and in 2019 won her third World Championship equalling the feat of Michelle Martin and rising to equal fourth in the all-time list of world championships won. She is the current world champion after winning the 2022/2023 edition of the tournament.

The al‑Nour Party(Arabic: حزب النور, romanized: Ḥizb an-Nūr), or "Party of The Light", was one of the political parties created in Egypt after the 2011 Egyptian Revolution. It has an ultra-conservative, Islamist ideology, which believes in implementing strict Sharia law. It has been described as the political arm of the Salafi Call Society, and "by far the most prominent" of the several new Salafi parties in Egypt, which it has surpassed by virtue of its "long organizational and administrative experience" and "charismatic leaders". Its political aim is to establish a theocratic state on the lines of Wahhabism like in Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia was found to be the main financer of the party according to the public German television news service ARD.

The Nour al-Din al-Zenki Movement was a Sunni Islamist rebel group involved in the Syrian Civil War. In 2014, it was reportedly one of the most influential factions in Aleppo, especially the Western Aleppo countryside. Between 2014 and 2015, it was part of the Syrian Revolutionary Command Council and recipient of U.S.-made BGM-71 TOW anti-tank missiles. The Movement made multiple attempts to merge with the larger Islamist rebel group Ahrar al-Sham but were refused by Ahrar al-Sham's leadership. The Zenki Movement also made attempts to merge with other Islamist factions, Jaysh al-Islam and the Sham Legion. However, all merging efforts with these groups failed, leading to the Zenki Movement joining the Salafi Islamist Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) in 2017. But after a few months the group left HTS and within a year went to war with HTS by joining the Turkish-backed Syrian Liberation Front alongside Ahrar al-Sham on 18 February 2018. After a series of clashes in early 2019 Al Zenki were largely defeated by HTS, expelled to Afrin and absorbed in the Turkish-backed Syrian National Army. However, it reportedly re-emerged as an independent entity in 2020.
Nour El-Dali was an Egyptian footballer who played for Zamalek and Egypt as a defender, represented his country and was part of the team that won the 1957 Africa Cup of Nations. He was also part of Egypt's squad for the football tournament at the 1952 Summer Olympics, but he did not play in any matches. He was the president of Zamalek Sports Club for 2 years, between 1990 and 1992.

On 15 August 2016, a suicide bombing that targeted a packed Syrian rebel junction at the Atmeh border crossing, killed 50 Syrian rebels, several civilians, and reports of 2 wounded Turkish soldiers. The attack was claimed by Islamic State, that stated it targeted Syrian rebel fighters from Faylaq al-Sham and Harakat Nour al-Din al-Zenki. Around 32 dead fighters were from the Nour al-Din al-Zenki group.

The Women's United States Squash Open 2016 is the women's edition of the 2016 United States Open (squash), which is a WSA World Series event. The event took place at the Daskalakis Athletic Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in the United States from the 8th of October to the 15th of October. Camille Serme won her first US Open trophy, beating Nour El Sherbini in the final.
The 2016 Lebanese Elite Cup is the 19th edition of this football tournament in Lebanon. The competition started on 6 August through to the final on 21 August. This tournament includes the six best teams from the 2015–16 Lebanese Premier League season.
Nour Abdelsalam is an Egyptian taekwondo practitioner. She is a gold medalist in the women's 49 kg event at the Islamic Solidarity Games, the African Games and several editions of the African Taekwondo Championships. She also represented Egypt at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.
