Novarossi World, also known as Novarossi Nitro Micro Engines, was an Italian manufacturer of model engines and related items for radio-controlled models.

History

Nova Rossi was founded in 1984 by Cesare Rossi and his wife Graziosa Barchi in the Italia region. Rossi started building model aircraft in the 1950s. Rossi started to successfully modify existing model engines, and won Italian and international competitions.

Throughout the 1960s, Rossi manufactured his own engines using engineering and mechanical skills learned from his father. With the aid of his brother, Cesare Rossi started a family business. Along with his wife Graziosa Barchi, and two sons Mario and Sergio Rossi, Cesare Rossi formed Nova Rossi.

In December 2005, Mario left Nova Rossi. He designed engines for RC Cars produced by Italian RC giants GRP Gandini and sold under various brands.

In December 2006, Nova Rossi changed their company name from Nova Rossi snc to Novarossi World s.r.l. Nova Rossi ceased manufacturing circa November 2019.

Nova Rossi produced engines, manifolds, tuned pipes, glow plugs and other accessories for all forms of radio-controlled models. Nova Rossi held a high share of sales with radio controlled cars, boats and aircraft. Many world championships were won in all of these classes, leading to the company slogan "World champion engines" often found on decals and apparel.

Nova Rossi produced 60,000 engines a year, [1] and 300,000 glow plugs a year. [1] Exports contribute 90% of Nova Rossi sales, [2] showing global interest. Rossi expected a boom in model use through Italy to help improve the percentage of engines sold in Italy, which currently stands at 10%.

Radio-controlled cars, or RC cars for short, are miniature model cars, vans, buses, trucks or buggies that can be controlled from a distance using a specialized transmitter or remote. The term "RC" has been used to mean both "remote controlled" and "radio controlled". "Remote controlled" includes vehicles that are controlled by radio waves, infrared waves or a physical wire connection. The Tamiya Radio Controlled Nitro Off-road Vehicles entered the radio controlled (RC) nitro engine powered 1/8 scale truck market in July 2002. Produced by the Tamiya Corporation of Japan, these 1/8 scale trucks are designed for stadium competition. Tamiya's first nitro truck, TR-15t, was introduced in 1994. Second truck was the TGM-01 Mad Bison, released in 2000. Third attempt, Terra Crusher, departed greatly from the previous two. Terra Crusher (TGM-02), released in July 2002, capitalized on the off-road monster RC boom of the time; subsequent trucks include the Wild Commando, TNX (TGM-03), TNX 5.2R, and TRG-01 Nitrage. A 1:10 radio-controlled off-road buggy is a 1:10 scale radio-controlled dune buggy designed for off-road racing. These cars are based on their full-scale equivalents that are commonly found in desert racing. The buggies are split into two race categories, two (2WD) and four-wheel drive (4WD). These can easily be distinguished visually by their wheel size at the front. Cars are typically electric powered, but nitro versions do exist but are less common because racing classes exist for electric cars. The class is inexpensive and similar to a number of other classes, and this makes them popular with newcomers. The cars are also known as 1/10 off-road.

Mugen Seiki Co., Ltd. is a Japanese manufacturer of high-end, premium radio-controlled cars based in Funabashi, Chiba, Japan. Mugen means unlimited, Seiki means machinery works. Mugen Seiki currently manufactures a 1/8 scale buggy and truggy as well as a 1/8 scale pan car and 1/10 scale touring car. Mugen Seiki's biggest competitors include: Kyosho and Serpent.

Jared Randall Tebo is an American radio-controlled car racer from Raymore, Missouri who specializes in off-road racing driving for Mayako.

Clifton Bradley Lett is an American retired radio-controlled racer and former president of Associated Electrics, where he began his R/C career in 1985. A former motorcross mechanic for Yamaha, he won seven ROAR National Championships, three NORRCA National Championships and the 1991 IFMAR World Championship and was one of the foremost drivers of the 1980s. Lett, known as "the Buggymaster", helped refine the Associated RC10 and other models in the range. He was the first driver to exceed 100 miles per hour (160 km/h) with a radio-controlled car, recorded by Guinness World Records at 111 miles per hour (179 km/h) in 2001.

The IFMAR World Championship for 1:8th IC Off-Road Cars, is a world championship radio controlled car race hosted by the International Federation of Model Auto Racing (IFMAR). It takes place biennially on even years since 1986.
