El Deafo is a graphic novel written and illustrated by Cece Bell. The book is a loose autobiographical account of Bell's childhood and life with her deafness. The characters in the book are all anthropomorphic bunnies. Cece Bell, in an interview with the Horn Book Magazine, states "What are bunnies known for? Big ears; excellent hearing," rendering her choice of characters and their deafness ironic.
Turbo Kid is a 2015 post-apocalyptic superhero film written and directed by François Simard, Anouk Whissell, and Yoann-Karl Whissell. The film stars Munro Chambers, Laurence Leboeuf, Michael Ironside, Edwin Wright, Aaron Jeffery, and Romano Orzari. The film follows the adventures of a teenage comic book fan turned superhero in an alternate 1997 post-apocalyptic Earth where water is scarce. He teams up with a mysterious girl and an arm-wrestling cowboy to stop a tyrannical warlord. Epic Pictures Group released the film in the United States on August 28.
DC Super Hero Girls or DC Superhero Girls is an American superhero web series and franchise produced by Warner Bros. Animation for Cartoon Network based on characters from DC Entertainment that launched in the third quarter of 2015.
Jorge Aguirre is an American author and children's television show writer and producer. Aguirre has written shows for PBS, Nick Jr, Netflix, Amazon, and Disney Jr. He is the writer of the graphic novel series The Chronicles of Claudette for Macmillan/First Second Books. The series includes Giants Beware, Dragons Beware, and Monsters Beware. He is also the co-creator of Disney Junior's Goldie & Bear with Rick Gitelson. As of 2023, Aguirre is working on a new graphic novel series for middle school aged children with Andrés Vera Martínez called Monster Locker.
