Obomkpa is an Igbo town in the Aniocha North local government area of Delta State, Nigeria.

History

Obomkpa community was founded by Anagbanogidi some centuries ago and situated within the geographical coordinates of 6°24′55″N 6°29′29″E/6.41528°N 6.49139°E which consist of the following major Quarters namely; Ogbe-Obi, Ogbe-Onei and Ukpatu respectively. It is one of the communities that make up the Umu-Ezechima clan.

Anagbanogidi who migrated from the ancient city of Bini became the first Obi {paramount ruler} of Obomkpa.

At present, Obomkpa is an important community in the Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State. It is bounded in the South by Ubulubu town, in the North by Idumuogo town, in the East by Ukwunzu town, in the West by Ugboba town, in the Northwest by Onicha-Olona and in the Southeast by Ezi town etc.

Obomkpa community operates a Monarchical Type of Government, which is headed by His Royal Majesty (The Obi), followed by the Obi in Council, Council of Chiefs, Red Cap Chiefs, Heads of Villages and Head of quarters. The Kingship is based on the system of Primogeniture i.e. From Father to Son (Eze-Ada).

The major occupations of the people in Obomkpa are Farming, Hunting and Petty Trading. The community has produced Sons and Daughters who has excelled in Various fields of human endeavors and are based in Different parts of the country and in Diaspora.

Obomkpa Market Days Obomkpa lists of the market Days are Nkwo, Olie, Eke and Afor. Obomkpa main market day is Eke. The town main market is held on Eke days, a fourth day of the traditional week, after Olie, Afor, and Nkwo. Obomkpa market is a main spot for wholesale of garri, mostly to buyers from the Southern and Eastern Nigeria. Other products usually on sales at the Eke market are plantain, banana, fruits, vegetables, yam and corn.

The Ezza people in Ohaukwu dominates in Effium community inhabiting the Minor communities of Inikiri Umuezeoka, Umuezeokaoha, and Kpakpaji. Arondizuogu (Aro-ndizuogu) is a town inhabited by the Igbo subgroup of the Aro people in Imo State of Nigeria. The Arondizuogu community is believed to have migrated from Arochukwu in the present Abia State to their current settlements in Imo state, which include the Okigwe, Ideato North and Onuimo local governments, although there are others of Aro descent in other local governments in Imo State.

Anioma people are an Igbo speaking subgroup in Delta State, Nigeria. A genetically distinct and heterogeneous group, the ethnicity is popularly referred to as “Delta Igbo”. They encompass the communities which span across the 9 northeastern Local Government Areas of Delta State and speak Igbo derived dialects of varying varieties including the Enuani languages and Ukwuani language. Igbo itself is a member of the Igboid languages of the Niger-Congo linguistic family. The similarity of the dialects is gradated and generally decreases in linguistic proximity to Igbo the further away from the Niger. They occupy Delta North Senatorial District, which consists of the Enuani (Oshimili/Aniocha), and Ukwuani/Ndokwa geographical and linguistic zones of Delta State.

Ejemekwuru is an Igbo-speaking community that sits in the North-Western part of Imo State in the southeastern region of Nigeria.

Lude Ahiara is a community in Ahiara Mbaise, Nigeria with seven kindreds: Lude Ama, Umuoriaku, Umunwaja, Umuokoro, Umuezeala, Umuokpo, Umulogho. Lude Ahiara one of the communities of Ahiara-Ofor Iri and located within the Ahiazu Local Government Area of Mbaise, Imo State. It is surrounded by other communities namely: Oru, Amakpaka Nnarambia, Obodo Ahiara and Obohia Ekwerazu.

The Igbo calendar is the traditional calendar system of the Igbo people from present-day Nigeria. The calendar has 13 months in a year (afo), 7 weeks in a month (onwa), and 4 days of Igbo market days in a week (izu) plus an extra day at the end of the year, in the last month. The name of these months was reported by Onwuejeogwu (1981).

Okpofe is an autonomous community located in Ezinihitte Mbaise local government area (LGA), in Imo State, Nigeria with common boundaries with Itu, Ezeagbogu, Ihitte, Amumara and Oboama autonomous communities. Okpofe is the centre of the Ezinihitte Mbaise clan, and it is the only town in Ezinihitte Mbaise that does not share a boundary with another local government area in Imo State. It is quite a unique town in Ezinihitte. It is also on record that the Roman Catholic Church was first established in Okpofe town in the year 1918 when the first crop of missionaries brought to the town held the first Catholic mass at the shrine of Inyama Oguegbe Ajero, who himself was the Second Paramount King of the ancient town after Chief Mbagwu. Eluoma is a town in Amawu, Isuikwuato, Abia State of Nigeria. It is the largest town in Isuikwuato, having more than 10 distinct villages. It also occupies the largest geographical space in the whole of Isuikwuato, and has the most varied vegetation, relief and drainage. It shares boundaries with Amiyi Uhu, Amiyi Obilohia, Otampa, Umuasua, Umuobiala, Nnunya and Umuahia. It is a few kilometres from Abia State University, Uturu, Abia State and about 20 kilometres from Umuahia, the capital of Abia State, in the South Eastern part of Nigeria. Eluoma people are Igbos by ethnicity and belong to what was formally called Igbo Union from which the "Central Igbo" was derived.

Igbo Eze South is a Local Government Area of Enugu State in South East, Nigeria. Its headquarters are in the town of Ibagwa-Aka. The present local government Chairman is Comrade Peter Andy.

Nanka, is an Igbo speaking town in Southeastern Nigeria. The town is bordered by Awka to the north, the town of Nanka is posited to exist alongside Igboukwu.

Ubulu-Uku is an Anioma town situated in Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State. It shares boundaries with Ogwuashi-Uku to the east, Obior to the west, Isselu-Uku to the north, and Ubulu-Unor to the south. Ubulu-Uku is ruled by HRH Eze Chukwuka Noah Akaeze 1 since 2016. The main occupation of the town is farming with its major produce as cassava, maize, yam, palm produce, cashew, timber, cocoyam, cotton and poultery. The men are expert hunters and palm wine tappers while the women are renowned for their cloth weaving.

Afiaolu is a traditional festival held annually in Nnewi, Anambra State, Nigeria around August. The Afiaolu festival commences on “Eke” day with what is traditionally described as “Iwaji” and Ikpa Nku, this heralds the availability of new yam as well as thanksgiving to God. The festival includes a variety of entertainments including performance of ceremonial rites by the Igwe (king), cultural dance by girls and masquerade dance.

Osina is a town in Ideato North Local Government of Imo State, Nigeria and is under Orlu senatorial zone. Osina has four villages: Eluama, Uhualla, Ofeke, Umuduru/Umuogbu (Durunogbu). The Nnewi – Okigwe road passes through Osina. The Awka – Umuahia road also passes through Osina.

Idumuje Unor is a town situated in the Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State, Nigeria, lying between 6020’ 01.4’’ N and 60 22’ 06.5’’ N and between 60 25’ 01.4’’ E and 60 27’ 06.6’’ E. It is located 5 kilometers from Issele-Uku, the headquarters of Aniocha North and has a growing land area of 16sq km and current estimated population of about 10,000 inhabitants. It is bordered to the west by Onicha-Ugbo, to the North by Idumuje-Ugboko and Ewohinmi in Edo State, to the East by Onicha-Uku and Ugbodu and to the south by Issele-Uku. The name Idumuje in the Esan language could be translated to mean; Idumu - Community/Quarters and Oje - King/Royal. In other words, Idumuje means Royal Quarters or Kings' Quarter. Worthy to note: Another Idumuje named location could be found at present in Benin. The suffix "Unor" is an inclusion to the town's name so as to differentiate it from the breakaway community Idumuje -Ugboko; by a man called Nwoko and his supporters some 300 years ago. Ugboko is translated to mean "Ugbo" - Farm & "Oko" - a shortening of the name Nwoko.

Akatta is a major town in Oru East Local Government Area of Imo State in Nigeria. It is bordered to the north west by the towns Nnempi, Akuma and Amagu, to the north east by Amaebu and Amazu, to the south east by Okporo, Umutanze and Atta Njaba, and to the south west by Omuma. The following villages make up Akatta: Akwa, Urah, Ichi-Amaka, Ubaha, Ubahangwu, Okporo, Okwu and Azu Akatta. The town is approximately 10 km (6 mi) west of Orlu.

Umatu festival is one of the six major festivities held in Onitsha Ado N'Idu every year. The others are Ajachi, Owuwaji, Ofala, Osisi- Ite and Ife-Jioku. The Umatu is celebrated when the first maize has been cultivated. The people meet with the King (Obi) and his red hat leaders (Ndiche) to celebrate the prosperity of the maize crop.
