Dr. Olavo Avelino Garcia Correia commonly known as Olavo Correia,is a Cape Verdean politician. He currently serves as the deputy prime minister,and Minister of Finance and Business Development and Minister of Digital Economy of Cape Verde since May 2016. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7]
Correia was the governor of Bank of Cape Verde from 1999 to 2004. [8] In April 2022,he was named head of the board of governors of the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID). It was at the end of the 20th ordinary general meeting of the board of governors held in Lométhat this appointment was made. He replaced in this post the Minister of Economy and Finance of Benin Romuald Wadagni. [9]
JoséMaria Pereira Neves is a Cape Verdean politician who is currently the president of Cape Verde,having previously served as the Prime Minister of Cape Verde from 2001 to 2016. He is a member of the African Party for the Independence of Cape Verde (PAICV). In the 2021 presidential election,he was elected with 51.7% of votes,beating his nearest rival Carlos Veiga who got 42.4% of the total votes.
