The First National Bank of Punta Gorda (also known as the Old Merchants Bank of Punta Gorda) was a bank headquartered in Punta Gorda, Florida. In 1985, it was acquired by First Florida Bank, which became part of Bank of America in 1999. [1]

On March 14, 1991, its branch location was added to the National Register of Historic Places. [3]

The school is part of the Charlotte County Public Schools district, with admission based primarily on the locations of students' homes. Established in 1926, Charlotte High is located at 1250 Cooper Street. The school carries the slogan of "Charlotte County's First and Finest" since it remained the only high school in Charlotte County for many years until its top rival schools, Port Charlotte High School and Lemon Bay High School, were built.
