Four freestyle skiing events were held at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, at the venue in Deer Valley. There were both men's and women's competition in both aerials and moguls events. In moguls, the athletes ski down a slope littered with moguls (bumps), attempting to get down in as fast a time as possible while also attempting to get points for technique and their two aerial jumps during the course. The aerials events consisted of two jumps, which were judged by air, form and landing.

She competed at the FIS Freestyle World Ski Championships 2011 in Utah, and at the FIS Freestyle World Ski Championships 2013 in Voss. She competed at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, in women's aerials, and again at the 2018 Winter Olympics, where she placed fifth in women's aerials. At the 2015 World Championships she won her first world title.
Sandra Näslund is a Swedish freestyle skier, specializing in ski cross and alpine skiing. She is the 2017 and 2021 ski cross World Champion, winner of the 2017–18 ski cross World Cup, and the overall winner of the 2017–18 FIS Freestyle Ski World Cup. She also won the Olympic gold in ski Cross at the 2022 Winter olympics.

Hall won the gold medal in the men's slopestyle skiing event at the 2022 Games in Beijing.
Maxim Alekseyevich Burov is a Russian freestyle skier. A three-time World Champion, he won back-to-back titles in individual aerials, in 2019 and 2021, becoming the first Russian and the fourth male aerial skier to do that. Under the Olympic flag representing Russia, he participated at the 2018 Winter Olympics and competed in the men's aerials.
Trace Worthington is an American former freestyle skier. He competed in two events at the 1994 Winter Olympics. After retiring from the sport, Worthington became a sports commentator, working for both NBC Sports and CBS Sports.
Kirsty Muir is a Scottish freestyle skier representing Great Britain who competed in the big air and slopestyle events at the 2022 Winter Olympics. She came second in the big air event at the 2020 Winter Youth Olympics.
