The basketball section of Olympique Lille (whose nickname is OL) founded in 1924 in Lille and disappeared in the mid-1940s.
Although the OL was born in 1902, the club creates the basketball section only in 1924. [1] Under the amateur status, OL enjoyed success in the 1930s, reaching three times the France championship final. The club became Champion of France during the 1933–1934 season, also OL lost two other finals in 1932-33 and 1934–35.
Peter Boel was called for national team of France. He participated in the first EuroBasket in the history in 1935 but also on the basketball tournament of the 1936 Olympic Games, the first appearance of this sport at the Olympics. Georges Fontaine and Charles Fonteyne also played on olympique tournament. [1]

The Coupe de la Ligue, known outside France as the French League Cup, was a knockout cup competition in French football organized by the Ligue de Football Professionnel. The tournament was established in 1993 and, unlike the Coupe de France, was only open to professional clubs in France which play in country's top three football divisions, though the third is not fully professional.

Since 1987, the Ligue Nationale de Basket has governed the league. The bottom two placed teams from each season are relegated to the second tier level Pro B. The winner of the play-offs of the Pro A is crowned the French national champion.

The Latvia men's national basketball team represents Latvia in international basketball. They are organized and run by the Latvian Basketball Association. Latvia has reached the European Basketball Championship 15 times, with their ultimate success occurring during the inter-war period, when they became the first team to win the tournament in 1935. Four years later, they had another impressive run to come away with the silver in 1939. After 1939 though Latvia were forced to suspend their national team operations, due to the Occupation of the Baltic states during World War II. Latvia regained independence in 1991, with their national team taking part in international competition once again a year later.

József Eisenhoffer, also known as József Aczél, was a Hungarian footballer. He could play equally well as an inside or outside left as well as left half. Eisenhoffer played professionally in Hungary, Austria, France and the United States. He also managed Olympique de Marseille for six seasons and earned eight caps with the Hungarian national team. He was a member of the 1924 Hungarian Olympic football team.
