Ong Soo Hin is a Malaysian businessman and head of a salvaging company in south-east Asia.
He was born to Chinese parents in Malaysia. He was business partners with marine salvor Mike Hatcher.
In 1996, Ong Soo Hin teamed up with Oxford University archaeologist Mensun Bound to work with Vietnam's National History Museum in excavating the Hoi An Wreck site off the coast of Hoi An, Vietnam. The project took four years and cost an estimated $14 million. Over 250,000 intact examples of Vietnamese ceramic were recovered.

Hội An, formerly known in English as Fai-Fo or Faifoo, is a city with a population of approximately 120,000 in Vietnam's Quảng Nam Province and has been noted as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999. Along with the Cù Lao Cham archipelago, it is part of the Cù Lao Cham-Hội An Biosphere Reserve, designated in 2009.
The Larut Wars were a series of four wars started in July 1861 and ended with the signing of the Pangkor Treaty of 1874. The Hội An wreck lies in the South China Sea 22 nautical miles off the coast of central Vietnam at approximately 16.04°N 108.6°E approximately. It was discovered by fishermen in the early 1990s. The Vietnamese government made several attempts to organise an investigation of the site but its efforts initially were confounded by the water depth of 230 feet (70 m). Between 1996 and 1999, the team, which included the Vietnamese National Salvage Corporation and Oxford University’s Marine Archaeology Research Division, recovered nearly 300,000 artifacts.

The black paradise flycatcher, also known as the Japanese paradise flycatcher, is a medium-sized passerine bird native to southeastern Asia. Datuk Ong Kim Swee DPSM is a Malaysian football manager and former footballer, who is the Head coach of Malaysia Super League club Sabah. Ong is also an Estonian surname, possibly derived from õng, meaning "fishing rod/hook".
Phạm Quỳnh was a monarchist during the late Nguyễn dynasty and supporter of adhering to traditional Vietnamese customs in the establishment of a constitutional monarchy. He was born near Hanoi, Vietnam, to a literati family of Hải Dương province. He was appointed Minister of Education to the royal court at Huế in 1932, and held several other posts in the court as premier and Minister of the Interior for Emperor Bảo Đại's government. He served as a government minister along with Ngô Đình Diệm under Emperor Bảo Đại's administration. After the August Revolution, he was killed by the Viet Minh along with two other high-ranking members of Bảo Đại's cabinet in September 1945.

Kapitan China Ong Tiang Swee,, CSS known as the Grand Old Man, was a renowned businessman and philanthropist in Sarawak. Regarded as the most prominent and successful Chinese community leader in Sarawak, he was Kapitan China of Sarawak and President of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce, as well as an advisor on Chinese Affairs and confidant to Rajah Charles Brooke. He was also the first Chinese nominated to the Sarawak Council Negri in 1937. He played a significant role in the progress of the state and saw Sarawak through its infant stages of development.

Trần Thị Nguyệt Thu is the former Spouse of President of Vietnam during her husband Nguyễn Xuân Phúc's presidency from April 2021 to January 2023, when he resigned amid a series of corruption scandals. She was previously the Spouse of the Prime Minister during her husband's premiership from 2016 to 2021. She is known for her elegant fashion style, often wearing the traditional Vietnamese dress áo dài, and is occasionally dubbed the First Lady of Vietnam by the overseas Vietnamese press.
