The OpenVNet adds a Network Virtualization layer on top of the existing physical network and enables data center network administrators to tremendously simplify the creation and operation of multi-tenant networks. It is based on edge overlay network architecture and provides all the necessary components for network virtualization such as SDN controller, virtual switch, virtual router, and powerful APIs.

The OpenVNet project started in April 2013. Almost part of the implementation had already done in the Wakame-vdc project in the beginning of 2012.

Illumos Free software implementation of the Solaris kernel

Illumos is a partly free and open-source Unix operating system. It is based on OpenSolaris, which was based on System V Release 4 (SVR4) and the Berkeley Software Distribution (BSD). Illumos comprises a kernel, device drivers, system libraries, and utility software for system administration. This core is now the base for many different open-sourced Illumos distributions, in a similar way in which the Linux kernel is used in different Linux distributions.

Wakame-vdc is an IaaS cloud computing framework, facilitating the provisioning and management of a heterogeneous virtualized infrastructure. Wakame-vdc virtualizes the entire data center; servers, storage, and networking. Wakame-vdc is managed via a native Web Interface, the Wakame-vdc CLI, or the powerful Wakame-vdc API.

kmscon Userspace virtual console for Linux operating system

Kmscon is a virtual console that runs in userspace and intends to replace the Linux console, a terminal built into the Linux kernel. Kmscon uses the KMS driver for its output, it is multiseat-capable, and supports internationalized keyboard input and UTF-8 terminal output. The input support is implemented using X keyboard extension (XKB). Development of Kmscon stopped in March 2015. There is a new project called systemd-consoled, but this project was also later dropped in July 2015.

Vagrant (software) Software for portable virtual development environments

Vagrant is an open-source software product for building and maintaining portable virtual software development environments; e.g., for VirtualBox, KVM, Hyper-V, Docker containers, VMware, and AWS. It tries to simplify the software configuration management of virtualization in order to increase development productivity. Vagrant is written in the Ruby language, but its ecosystem supports development in a few other languages.

Maliit

Maliit is an input method framework for computers with particular focus on implementing virtual keyboards. Designed mostly for touchscreen devices, Maliit allows the inputting of text without the presence of a physical keyboard. More advanced features such as word correction and prediction are also available.

MoarVM is a virtual machine built for the 6model object system. It is being built to serve as yet another VM backend for NQP and Raku. MoarVM was created to allow for greater efficiency than Parrot by having a closer internal representation to the model system used by Raku. Notably it was the virtual machine for the first stable version of Rakudo released in December 2015.

SoftEther VPN Open-source VPN client and server software

SoftEther VPN is free open-source, cross-platform, multi-protocol VPN client and VPN server software, developed as part of Daiyuu Nobori's master's thesis research at the University of Tsukuba. VPN protocols such as SSL VPN, L2TP/IPsec, OpenVPN, and Microsoft Secure Socket Tunneling Protocol are provided in a single VPN server. It was released using the GPLv2 license on January 4, 2014. The license was switched to Apache License 2.0 on January 21, 2019.

bhyve is a type-2 hypervisor initially written for FreeBSD. It can also be used on a number of illumos based distributions including SmartOS OpenIndiana and OmniOS. A port of bhyve to macOS called xhyve is also available.

Distributed Overlay Virtual Ethernet (DOVE) is a tunneling and virtualization technology for computer networks, created and backed by IBM. DOVE allows creation of network virtualization layers for deploying, controlling, and managing multiple independent and isolated network applications over a shared physical network infrastructure.

Open vSwitch

Open vSwitch, sometimes abbreviated as OVS, is an open-source implementation of a distributed virtual multilayer switch. The main purpose of Open vSwitch is to provide a switching stack for hardware virtualization environments, while supporting multiple protocols and standards used in computer networks.

OVN

OVN is a system to support virtual network abstraction. OVN complements the existing capabilities of Open vSwitch to add native support for virtual network abstractions, such as virtual L2 and L3 overlays and security groups.

Keras Neural network library

Keras is an open-source software library that provides a Python interface for artificial neural networks. Keras acts as an interface for the TensorFlow library.

Virtual File System for Git, developed by Microsoft, is an extension to the Git version control system.

Orleans is a cross-platform software framework for building scalable and robust distributed interactive applications based on the .NET Framework.

SONiC is a free and open source network operating system based on Linux and developed by Microsoft and the Open Compute Project. SONiC includes the networking software components necessary for a fully functional L3 device and was designed to meet the requirements of a cloud data center. It allows cloud operators to share the same software stack across hardware from different switch vendors.
