The Orlando Opera was Orlando, Florida's professional opera company, founded in 1958. The opera performed multiple times a year in the Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre and other venues in the central Florida region. On April 16, 2009 the company announced it will suspend all operations and close its doors due to poor economic conditions. The company filed Chapter 7 bankruptcy.

Orlando is a city in, and the county seat of, Orange County, Florida, United States. Part of Central Florida, it is the center of the Orlando metropolitan area, which had a population of 2,509,831 in 2017, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. It is the sixth-largest metropolitan area in the Southern United States and the third-largest metropolitan area in Florida behind Miami and Tampa Bay. Orlando had a city population of 307,573 in the 2020 census, making it the fourth-most populous city in Florida behind Jacksonville, Miami, and Tampa. It is the state's most populous inland city.
Downtown Orlando is the historic core and central business district of Orlando, Florida, United States. It is bordered by Marks Street in the north, Mills Avenue in the east, Orange Blossom Trail in the west, and Kaley Avenue in the south. There are several distinct neighborhoods in downtown; "North Quarter" to the north, "Lake Eola Heights Historic District" just north of Lake Eola, "South Eola" contains Lake Eola Park and continues to the east and south of Lake Eola, "Thornton Park" in the east, "Parramore" in the west, "Lake Cherokee Historic District" to the south, and the "Central Business District" between Colonial Drive and Lake Lucerne in the center. In 2010, the estimated population of downtown was 18,731. The daytime population was estimated to be 65,000. The 5-mile radius population of downtown is 273,335.
Church Street Station, also called the Old Orlando Railroad Depot, is a historic train station and commercial development in Orlando, Florida. The historic depot and surrounding buildings house a retail and entertainment center. The complex also contains a stop for SunRail, the commuter rail service of the Greater Orlando area.
The Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra is Central Florida's resident professional orchestra, appearing in more than 125 performances each season. Founded in 1993. At over $4 million, the Orlando Philharmonic has the largest endowment of any arts institution in Central Florida. The Orlando Philharmonic entered its 29th anniversary in the 2021–2022 season, led by Eric Jacobsen in his fourth season as music director.

Orlando is an opera seria in three acts by George Frideric Handel written for the King's Theatre in London in 1733. The Italian libretto was adapted from Carlo Sigismondo Capece's L'Orlando after Ludovico Ariosto's Orlando Furioso, which was also the source of Handel's operas Alcina and Ariodante. More an artistic than a popular success at its first performances, Orlando is today recognised as a masterpiece.

Mary LeSawyer was an American opera singer of Ukrainian descent who had an active international career during the 1940s through the 1960s. A lyric soprano, LeSawyer studied opera at the Juilliard School before beginning her singing career. She had a long and fruitful partnership with the New York City Opera from 1949 through 1961. With the NYCO she appeared in Carmen, La Traviata, Madame Butterfly, and others. She notably took part in the company's celebrated 1960 national tour, performing in four American operas: The Ballad of Baby Doe, Street Scene, Susannah, and Six Characters in Search of an Author. In 1958 she created the role of Mrs. Muller in the world premiere of Robert Kurka's The Good Soldier Schweik for the NYCO at Lincoln Center.
Davis Gaines is an American stage actor and baritone. He has performed as The Phantom in the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical The Phantom of the Opera over 2,000 times, on Broadway, on tour, in Los Angeles, and in San Francisco. In the last location, he won the Bay Area Critics' Award for Best Actor. He performed the role for a Phantom segment for the Kennedy Center Honors in 1994.
National Ballet of Ukraine from the Taras Shevchenko National Opera of Ukraine performs works of classical ballet and tours internationally. It currently has 24 ballets in its repertory, one of the largest in the world, and has had many notable dancers among its members.

Fernando Varela is an American operatic and classical crossover tenor, who has performed in staged operas, as a member of the classical crossover trio Forte Tenors, and as a solo artist. As a solo artist, he has toured internationally with David Foster, and also tours independently, having completed a European tour in 2016. In 2017, Varela debuted his PBS special "Fernando Varela: Coming Home", performed at the Grammy Museum Gala honoring David Foster, and joined Sarah Brightman on the Royal Christmas Gala tour November - December, 2017. From 2018 into 2020, Varela has toured extensively with David Foster, and has participated in several charitable events.
Orlando Ballet is an American professional ballet company based in Orlando, Florida. Orlando Ballet is the only fully residential ballet company in Central Florida, their main-stage productions performed at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts and Harriett's Orlando Ballet Centre. The ballet currently employs 25 full time national and international dancers. The company also supports pre-professional dancers through Orlando Ballet II, the second company.
Devin Eatmon is an American operatic tenor, and winner of a Harold S. Schwartz Music Scholarship. Eatmon grew up in The Villages, Florida, and sang with The Opera Club of the Villages and the Central Florida Lyric Opera. His summer performances included Opera in the Ozarks (2015) and Aspen Music Festival. He studied vocal performance at Florida State University, where he completed his bachelor's and master's degrees, and acted as a graduate teaching assistant. Selected as one of Opera Colorado's 2020-21 Artists in Residence, he will be performing several productions, once the season is underway.
