Orwell Dam (National ID # MN00574) is a dam in Otter Tail County, Minnesota, about six miles southwest of Fergus Falls.
The earthen gravity dam was constructed in 1953 by the United States Army Corps of Engineers, with a height of 60 feet and a length of 1355 feet at its crest. [1] It impounds the Otter Tail River for flood control, irrigation water storage, and municipal drinking water. [2] The dam is owned and operated by the St. Paul District, Mississippi Valley Division, Corps of Engineers.
The reservoir it creates, Orwell Lake, has a normal water surface of 1.3 square miles, with a maximum capacity of 20,600 acre-feet. [3] Recreation includes hunting, boating, and fishing (for walleye, northern, crappie and redhorse sucker). [4]
Lake McCloud is a reservoir on the McCloud River in Northern California. The lake forms behind an earthen dam finished in 1965 by the Pacific Gas and Electric Company to control water flows and for generating hydro-electric power. McCloud Dam is 235 feet high, 630 feet long at its crest, and impounds a maximum capacity of 35,200 acre-feet.
Lucky Peak Dam is a rolled earth and gravel fill embankment dam in the western United States, located on the Boise River in southwestern Idaho. In Ada County east of Boise, it is directly downstream of Arrowrock Dam, a concrete arch dam completed in 1915. At the time of its construction in the early 1950s, Lucky Peak's primary purpose was flood control, with a secondary purpose of irrigation. The normal operating elevation of the full reservoir is 3,055 feet (931 m) above sea level, the empty reservoir's elevation is 2,824 feet (861 m).

Selden, Jr., the dam is owned and operated by the Corps of Engineers.
