Oswald Homeky is a Beninese politician. [1] [2] He is the current Minister of Sports in Benin,having been appointed to the position in early 2021 by the current president of Benin,Patrice Talon. His term began on 25 May 2021. [1]
Benin,officially the Republic of Benin,and also known as Dahomey,is a country in West Africa. It is bordered by Togo to the west,Nigeria to the east,Burkina Faso to the north-west,and Niger to the north-east. The majority of its population lives on the southern coastline of the Bight of Benin,part of the Gulf of Guinea in the northernmost tropical portion of the Atlantic Ocean. The capital is Porto-Novo,and the seat of government is in Cotonou,the most populous city and economic capital. Benin covers an area of 114,763 km2 (44,310 sq mi),and its population in 2021 was estimated to be approximately 13 million. It is a small,tropical country. It is one of the least developed,with an economy heavily dependent on agriculture,and is an exporter of palm oil and cotton. Some employment and income arise from subsistence agriculture.
Cotonou is the largest city in Benin. Its official population count was 679,012 inhabitants in 2012;however,over two million people live in the larger urban area.
Benin is divided into 12 departments,and subdivided into 77 communes. In 1999,the previous six departments were each split into two halves,forming the current 12. Each of the six new departments was assigned a capital in 2008.
The Benin national football team,nicknamed Les Guépards,represents Benin in men's international association football and are controlled by the Benin Football Federation. They were known as Dahomey until 1975,when the Republic of Dahomey became Benin.
Bohicon or Gbɔ̀xikɔn is a city in Benin,and a conurbation of Abomey lying 9 kilometres east of the city on the railway line from Cotonou to Parakou and on Benin's main highway RNIE 2 which joins the RNIE 4. The commune covers an area of 139 square kilometres and as of 2012 had a population of 149,271 people.

The University of Benin (UNIBEN) is a public research university located in Benin City,Edo State,Nigeria. It is among the universities owned by the Federal Government of Nigeria and was founded in 1970. The school currently has two campuses with fifteen faculties including a central library called the John Harris Library. The buildings in UNIBEN are sparsely built,they are not close to each other.

Presidential elections were held in Benin on 6 March 2016,having been delayed by one week due to logistical constraints. Incumbent President Thomas Boni Yayi was at the end of his second presidential term and was constitutionally barred from running for a third. The elections grabbed the interest of many of the country's top businessmen,resulting in over 30 candidates trying to run for the presidency. A second round was held on 20 March,in which businessman Patrice Talon defeated Prime Minister Lionel Zinsou.
The Benin national badminton team represents Benin in international team competitions. The team is controlled by the Badminton Federation of Benin. The Beninese mixed team competed in the 2019 African Badminton Championships.
The Benin Basketball Super League,for sponsorships known as the YouZou Ligue Pro,is the highest level basketball league in Benin. The competition is organised annually by the Fédération Beninoise de Basket-ball (FBBB).
