Other India Press is a small alternative publishing house and bookstore in Mapusa, Goa, India. It deals mainly in environmental, alternative and Third World books, and sells the same mainly by mail order. Though little known in Mapusa itself, it is widely popular in alternative circles across India and beyond, and has a very useful selection of alternative books and also Goa -related books.
Norma Alvares, one of the founder of this network with a group of others, formed an NGO (non-governmental organisation) called Other India, "to market and publicise alternatives in education, health-care, the environment and other fields."
The OIP (and its sister Other India Bookstore) is located at Goa, India. OIB, or the Other India Bookstore, says it offers the "most complete range of books on Goa, environmental issues, and alternative books from India".

Assagao is a village in Bardez, Goa, India located about 4 kilometres west of Mapusa. Assagao is known as the Land of Flowers as well as several other nicknames – “Goa’s South Extension”, ‘Artist’s village’, “The Beverly Hills of Goa”, “Goa’s Tuscany”. It is one of the beautiful villages of Goa. The village is surrounded by hills. The popular beaches of Anjuna and Vagator are to the west of Assagao.
The Mhadei Wildlife Sanctuary is a 208.5-km2 (80.5-mi2) protected area in the Indian state of Goa in the Western Ghats of South India. It is located in the North Goa District, Sattari taluka near the town of Valpoi. The sanctuary is an area of high biodiversity, and is being considered to become a Project Tiger tiger reserve because of the presence of Bengal tigers.
