The International Literary Prize of the city of Sassari takes place during the festival Ottobre in Poesia.
This event is held annually in the city of Sassari [1] in the month of October.
The Festival Ottobre in Poesia [2] get under way with its first edition in 2007, year when was announced and made known the announcement of The International Literary Prize of the city of Sassari, which awards were held during the second edition of the festival. The prize take this name only from 2010; before it existed with the denomination Island of Verses.
During the days of the festival, come one after the other meetings with authors, [3] readings, performances, concerts and art installations; all events that, in last editions of the festival, spread and widened, also involving nearby cities.
All the emotions and the artistic contributions of each edition of the prize, are collected in an anthology printed in limited edition. The festival was a great success of people since the early years and is currently among the most important literary and cultural events of the poetic landscape, also thanks to the importance of the guests who are invited to Sassari.
The 2012 edition start from Carbonia: "Waiting Ottobre in Poesia" [4] with an exhibition of works at international level directed by Shikanu', a recital and theatrical performance in schools; of a "After Festival" with a recital-shows at the Vecchio Mulino of Sassari, and meetings with schools of Alghero. In 2013 there will be the sixth edition of the International Literary Prize City of Sassari and the seventh edition of the Festival Ottobre in Poesia.

Particular attention is given to the meeting of the last day of the festival at the Civic Theatre in Sassari, where all guests and participants gather together in order to follow the performances (recitals, plays, etc.) of the most important guests of the festival. Poems for the Hazara is a multilingual poetry anthology and a collaborative poem composed of the works of one hundred twenty five internationally recognized poets from sixty-eight countries. Poems in this book are in English, Spanish, Catalan, Japanese, Norwegian, Turkish, Hazaragi, Italian, Greek, German, Irish, Hebrew, Romanian, French, Armenian, Hungarian and Portuguese. All non-English poems have been translated into English. "Poems for the Hazara" includes the poetry anthology and a collaborative poem featuring contributions from 23 international poets. An open letter from 354 celebrated poets including Nobel, Pulitzer, continental and national literary prize winners as well as presidents of PEN clubs, and writers associations from 97 countries is included at the end. Marco Onofrio is an Italian writer, essayist and literary critic. His work deals primarily with modern and contemporary Italian literature, with special emphasis on the twentieth century writers. He also carries out activities of militant criticism aimed at the discovery and advancement of new editorial proposals. He has published several volumes of poetry and fiction, written dozens of prefaces and authored hundreds of articles in various Italian newspapers, including "Il Messaggero", "Il Tempo", "Lazio Ieri e Oggi", "Studium", "Nuova Antologia", "La Voce Romana", "L'Immaginazione", "Orlando". Among the works of fiction, he published the experimental novel "Senza cuore", the satirical tales "La scuola degli idioti", "ENERGIE", "Specchio doppio" and the emotional novel "Diario di un padre innamorato" focused on the experience of fatherhood and dedicated to his daughter Valentina. With his dramatic poem "Emporium. Poemetto di civile indignazione" he has anticipated - three years before the pamphlet "Indignez-vous!" (2011) by Stéphane Hessel - the movement of the "Indignados". Drawing inspiration from the poems of "La presenza di Giano", the musician Marcello Appignani has composed the songs collected in the album "Natura viva con oboe, chitarra e violoncello", published by RAI Trade in September 2014.

Menotti Augusto Serse Lerro is an Italian poet, writer, playwright, librettist and academic, born in Omignano, Salerno. His work explores matters of social alienation and existentialism, the physicality and vulnerability of the body, the interpretation of memories, the meaning of objects and the philosophical importance of human identity. In 2015 he published Donna Giovanna, l'ingannatrice di Salerno, an innovative feminine and bisexual version of the mythical figure of Don Juan, El Burlador de Sevilla, while in 2018 he wrote Il Dottor Faust, an original version of the character of Faust. In addition he is the author of a New Manifesto of Arts and the founder of the Empathic movement (Empathism) that arose in the South of Italy at the beginning of 2020.
Cilento Poetry Prize is an Italian literary prize founded in 2017 by the poet, writer and literary critic Menotti Lerro and awarded annually, in the month of August, in Salento Cilento—"The Poetry Village".
