Padayatt Kesavapillai Vasudevan Nair,popularly known as PKV,was an Indian politician and lawyer who served as the 7th Chief Minister of Kerala from 1978 to 1979. He was a Member of the Lok Sabha from 1957 to 1971 and again from 2004 until his death in 2005. He became Chief Minister on 20 October 1978,following A. K. Antony's resignation as Chief Minister. However he resigned on 7 October 1979 owing to differences with other parties in the United Front. He served in the Kerala Legislative Assembly from 1977 to 1982. Nair was a senior member of the Communist Party of India.

He was appointed President of the Kerala State Unit of Nationalist Congress Party by the National President Sri. Sharad Pawar on 19 May 2021.

She holds several distinctions including becoming the first woman from her community to wear an upper cloth,the first Scheduled Caste woman graduate in India,a science graduate,a member of the Cochin Legislative Council and of being one of nine female members of the Constituent Assembly of India. But it is not correct to mention that she was one of the first women from her community to wear an upper cloth. Her elder sister and her mother Thayyithara Maani may be given this credit prior to her. Mother Maani lived up to the post independent period in India and died in 1959.

He served as general secretary K.P.C.C,Member of Kerala Legislative Assembly,Minister for Food and Civil Supplies,and Minister for Health. He was a member of the 6th,7th,and 8th Niyamasabha representing Sulthan Bathery and the 9th,10th,and 11th Niyamasabha representing Kalpetta.
