PNS Jalalat

PNS Jalalat is a Pakistani ship. It is the first ship of the Jalalat class and was commissioned in August 1997. It was built by Karachi Shipyard. [1] The ship is capable of conducting missile attacks, ESM support, air defense along with search and rescue operations. [2] The ship can also operate in shallow waters for anti-surface warfare (ASuW) missions. This ship, like others of Jalalat class are inspired from 39-meter P157 Larkana patrol boat. [3] The ship was a part of the goodwill visit to Abu Dhabi in January 2006. [4]

Structure and Equipment

The metal used for this ship is aluminium and it is a welded structure. Composite material is used to create the bulkhead to keep the weight of the ship further low. The sensors used for communication purposes are from western Europe. The ship took two years to build. [5]

Operation Trident was an offensive operation launched by the Indian Navy on Pakistan's port city of Karachi during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. Operation Trident saw the first use of anti-ship missiles in combat in the region. The operation was conducted on the night of 4–5 December and inflicted heavy damage on Pakistani vessels and facilities. While India suffered no losses, Pakistan lost a minesweeper, a destroyer, a cargo vessel carrying ammunition, and fuel storage tanks in Karachi. Another destroyer was also badly damaged and eventually scrapped. India celebrates its Navy Day annually on 4 December to mark this operation. Trident was followed up by Operation Python three days later.

PNS Shujaat is an indigenous missile craft of Pakistan. It is second missile craft of Jalalat class. Commissioned in September 1999, the ship was built at Karachi Shipyard. Pakistani president Muhammed Rafiq Tarar was present at the occasion. PNS Shujaat is 39 meters long and has a width of between 6 and 7 meters. The surface to surface long range missile. carried by the ship has a range of more than 100 kilometers. The technical expertise to construct the ship was given by Pakistan Navy. The ship was a part of DIMDEX in March 2012 in Doha.

The Tughril-class frigates, formally classified as the Type 054A/P frigates, are a series of modified guided-missile frigates built by Hudong–Zhonghua Shipbuilding (HDZH), for the Pakistan Navy. The Type 054A/P is a modified derivative of the Type 054A frigate and was specifically customised to meet the operational requirements of the Pakistan Navy; the class features several capabilities - including anti-surface warfare (ASuW), anti-aircraft warfare (AAW), anti-submarine warfare (ASW) and low radar observability. The frigates are poised to form the mainstay of the Pakistan Navy's active naval fleet. The class is also set to supplant Pakistan's obsolete Tariq-class destroyers.
