PVF Beach Volleyball tournament

The PVF-Cantada Beach Volleyball tournaments is a once-a-month-only beach volleyball (with no registration fees) invitational tournament for men's and women's organized by the Philippine Volleyball Federation (PVF) thru their President Edgardo "Boy" Cantada, Secretary General Karl Chan, Managing Director Otie Camangian (which served as the tournament director), and Deputy Secretary General Gerard Cantada. It is held at the Cantada Sports Center, in Bagumbayan, Taguig, with the world-class indoor and outdoor sand beach volleyball courts, therefore it is not opened to the public, with strictly invitational basis. The tournament is mainly supported by Tanduay under the helm of Lucio "Bong" Tan. [1]

Philippine Volleyball Federation

The Philippine Volleyball Federation is a governing body for volleyball in the Philippines. It was recognized as the national sport governing body prior to 2015.

Contents

Cantada has been organizing beach volleyball tournaments and promoting the sport, since 2005. [2] Several members of the Bagwis and Amihan teams (the national teams of PVF) were also joined in this tournament. [3]

Developments

The PVF, thru its regional chapter based in the Cordillera Administrative Region, the Cordillera Volleyball Association, eyed for the staging of a national beach volleyball tournament to be held at the Baguio Athletic Bowl on March 5–6, 2016. [4]

Baguio Athletic Bowl

The Baguio Athletic Bowl is a sporting venue within the grounds of Burnham Park in Baguio, Philippines. Completed in 1945, it is currently undergoing renovation work.

Premier Volleyball League Volleyball league

The Premier Volleyball League (PVL) is a women's professional volleyball league in the Philippines organized by Sports Vision Management Group, Inc. The league began in 2004 as the Shakey's V-League, a women's collegiate league with teams coming from the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP), the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation (CESAFI), and other associations. The POC-PSC Philippine National Games (PNG) is a multi-sport tournament in the Philippines. It includes the sport of Indoor and Beach Volleyball for both men and women. The most recent title holders were the Philippine Air Force Air Men and Women for Indoor Volleyball for both men's and women's title while University of Santo Tomas Kris Roy Guzman and Mark Gil Alfafara, and Flormel Rodriguez and Therese Ramos of CEBU won the men's and women's beach volleyball respectively.

The PLDT Volleyball Club is a professional volleyball club owned by PLDT. It competed in the Premier Volleyball League as the PayMaya High Flyers and the PLDT Home Fibr Ultra Fast Hitters.

Victonara "Ara" Salas Galang is a multi-awarded, Filipina volleyball player. She was a UAAP Rookie of the Year during the Season 74 and UAAP Most Valuable Player in the Season 75. She is the former team captain (2014-2015) of the De La Salle University Lady Spikers.

The 2000 Asian Beach Volleyball Women's Invitational or the 2000 Nestea Asian Beach Volleyball Women's Invitational for sponsorship reasons, was a beach volleyball event, that was held from February 11 to 13, 2000 in Pasay, Philippines. The event serves as the inaugural edition of the Asian Beach Volleyball Championship. The tournament was held in a beach volleyball court specifically made for the tournament at the Cultural Center of the Philippines Complex.

Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas

Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas, Inc. is the current national governing body (NSA) for volleyball in the Philippines recognized by the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC), the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) and the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB).

The 2015 PSL season is the third season of the Philippine Super Liga (PSL). There were two indoor conferences for the season – the All-Filipino, and the Grand Prix. It staged its first beach volleyball tournament, the Challenge Cup, for the women's and men's divisions.

Mika Aereen Marcaliñas Reyes is a Filipino volleyball player. She is a Middle Hitter/ Blocker and is currently playing in the semi-professional league in the Philippines.

Kim Alano Fajardo is a Filipino volleyball athlete. She was the team captain of the De La Salle University women's volleyball team for Season 78 and 79.

The Nestea Beach Volleyball is a beach volleyball tournament held during the Summer season in the Philippines. Held in the Boracay Beach Chalets, Station 2 in Boracay Island in Aklan, the Nestea Beach Volleyball is the longest-running beach volleyball tournament in the country and the main attraction of the Nestea Love the Beach event in Boracay usually held on April until May or the Labor Day Weekend. It consists into two parts: the Intercollegiate Beach Volleyball tournament featuring collegiate teams from different parts of the country and the Fantasy Match where semi-pro players duel in a beach volleyball exhibition game.

Bernadeth Pons is a Filipino volleyball athlete. She played for Petron Tri-Activ Spikers as an outside hitter.

Cherry Rondina is a Filipina volleyball player. She is a member and the current captain of the UST Golden Tigresses volleyball team. She is a 4-time UAAP Beach Volleyball MVP, the UAAP Season 81 MVP honours and a member of the Philippine Women's Beach Volleyball team.

Iriga City Oragons

The Iriga City Oragons is a professional women's volleyball club that played in the Philippine SuperLiga. The team is owned by the Local Government of Iriga City.
