Nestea Beach Volleyball

The Nestea Beach Volleyball is a beach volleyball tournament held during the Summer season in the Philippines. Held in the Boracay Beach Chalets, Station 2 in Boracay Island in Aklan, [1] the Nestea Beach Volleyball is the longest-running beach volleyball tournament in the country and the main attraction of the Nestea Love the Beach event in Boracay usually held on April until May or the Labor Day Weekend. It consists into two parts: the Intercollegiate Beach Volleyball tournament featuring collegiate teams from different parts of the country and the Fantasy Match where semi-pro players (consists of two teams by 4 players) duel in a beach volleyball exhibition game.

The tournament is organized by Volleyworks and sanctioned by the Philippine Volleyball Federation (PVF), [1] thru Executive Director Otie Camangian which served as the tournament director.

Events

Intercollegiate Beach Volleyball

In the 19th edition of the tourney, 10 teams will be competed in the men's divisions including the finals contenders University of Southern Philippines Foundation Panthers and the CSB Blazers, while in the distaff side, 12 teams will be participating in the three-day event, among them are the 2015 champions UST Golden Tigresses and first runner-up DLSU Lady Spikers. Tournament director Camangian stated that if the tourney will have a conflict with the UAAP women's volleyball finals, the teams will send a Team B composed of those who not make it in the line-up of the UAAP team. Fantasy Match

In 2015, Fantasy Match, a side event of the competition was added in the line-up of the activities in the Nestea Beach tourney. For the 2016 edition, top volleyball players in the country will be played in the Fantasy Match on April 29–30, [3] coinciding with the semifinals and finals of the intercollegiate beach volleyball tourney.

Members of last year's fantasy match champions Team Light Blue, Rachel Anne Daquis, Cha Cruz, and Michele Gumabao will return in the sand for the second straight appearance. Gumabao and Cruz will play for Team Chillax, while Daquis will play for Team Plunge.

Premier Volleyball League

The Premier Volleyball League (PVL) is a women's professional volleyball league in the Philippines organized by Sports Vision Management Group, Inc. The league began in 2004 as the Shakey's V-League, a women's collegiate league with teams coming from the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP), the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation (CESAFI), and other associations. She was a member of the collegiate varsity women's volleyball team of Ateneo de Manila University in both indoor and beach volleyball. She was most outstanding as an indoor volleyball player where she brought multiple championship titles and a lot of honor for the university. She is a current member of Philippines national team. Her global recognition paved the way for her to play in other countries like Thailand for 3BB Nakornnont and Taiwan for Attack Line Volleyball Club.

Michele Theresa Imperial Gumabao is an American-born Filipino volleyball player, TV personality and beauty queen. She was a co-captain of the De La Salle University women's volleyball team, the Lady Spikers, in 2012–2013. She is the camp director of the Alaska Volleyball Powercamp and in 2018, she was crowned as Binibining Pilipinas Globe 2018 during the Binibining Pilipinas beauty contest.

Victonara "Ara" Salas Galang is a multi-awarded, Filipina volleyball player. She was a UAAP Rookie of the Year during the Season 74 and UAAP Most Valuable Player in the Season 75. She is the former team captain (2014-2015) of the De La Salle University Lady Spikers.

Rachel Anne Daquis is a Filipino volleyball player. She graduated from the Far Eastern University where she took up Business Management. She was also the team captain of the PLDT HOME TVolution women's team that played in the 2014 Asian Women's Club Volleyball Championship. She is a former team captain of the FEU Lady Tamaraws in her collegiate years, where she was given the title "Queen Tamaraw". She is currently playing in the Philippine Super Liga (PSL) with the Cignal HD Spikers and is the PSL's brand ambassador for 2018 to 2019.

Dennise Michelle "Denden" García Lázaro-Revilla is a Filipina professional volleyball player. Lazaro is a member of the Philippine Women's National Volleyball Team. She is known as the libero and Ateneo Lady Eagles' Iron Eagle.


Aiza Maizo-Pontillas is a Filipina professional volleyball player. She was a former member and team captain of the UST Golden Tigresses, and a member of the Philippines women's national volleyball team. She led the España-based squad to its 16th and, as of 2018, latest championship in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) league. She was a Shakey's V-League (SVL) three-time Finals and two-time Season Most Valuable Player. Maizo is known for bagging several best-of awards in almost all volleyball skill departments in UAAP and SVL, excluding setting and digging. She is also known as the first Filipina in the entire franchise of SVL to take both Finals and Season MVP in a single conference twice. She currently plays for Petron Blaze Spikers.

Rhea Katrina Dimaculangan is a Filipino professional indoor volleyball athlete, and a former member of the Philippines women national volleyball team and the club Petron Tri-Activ Spikers. Dimaculangan played setter for and was a former captain of the UST Golden Tigresses.

Charleen Abigaile "Cha" Cruz Behag is a Filipino professional volleyball player and an educator. She is a member of the Philippine women's national volleyball team. Currently, she is playing and is the team captain for the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers in the Philippine Super Liga, a semi-professional corporate club volleyball league in the Philippines. She was a member of De La Salle University (DLSU) Lady Spikers, the official women's volleyball varsity team of De La Salle University. She was a two-time University Athletic Association of the Philippines's (UAAP) Finals Most Valuable Player and was part of DLSU Lady Spikers' four UAAP championships. She is known for her versatility in playing the sport of volleyball earning her the moniker "Ms. Everything".

The De La Salle University Lady Spikers is the official women's volleyball team of De La Salle University.

Kim Alano Fajardo is a Filipino volleyball athlete. She was the team captain of the De La Salle University women's volleyball team for Season 78 and 79.

Ennajie "EJ" Cruz Laure is a Filipina volleyball player. She is a member and a former team captain of the UST Golden Tigresses volleyball team, and a former Philippine national team member.

Cydthealee "Cyd" Alivio Demecillo is a Filipina volleyball athlete.

Ernestine Grace Tiamzon is a Filipino-Canadian volleyball athlete. She is currently a varsity player of De La Salle University collegiate women's volleyball team. She has also recently joined the semi-pro commercial league Philippine Super Liga under the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers club.

The UST Golden Tigresses women's volleyball is the intercollegiate women's volleyball program of the University of Santo Tomas. Formed in the same year of the sports' inception by the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) in 1938, the Tigresses are the league's second winningest team with 16 titles behind Far Eastern University's 29 championships.

Cherry Ann Rondina, popularly known as Sisi, is a Filipina professional indoor and beach volleyball player. She was a former member and captain of the UST Golden Tigresses volleyball team. She is a 4-time UAAP Beach Volleyball MVP and the UAAP Season 81 Women’s Volleyball MVP and Athlete of the Year. She is a current member of the Philippines Women Beach Volleyball team.

Jessica Margarett "Jema" Casidsid Galanza is a Filipino volleyball athlete player and former captain of the Adamson Soaring Lady Falcons volleyball team in the UAAP. She also played for the Laoag Power Smashers during the 2016 SVL Reinforced Conference and for the Creamline Cool Smashers during the 2017 PVL Reinforced Conference.

Diana Mae "Tots" Carlos is a Filipino volleyball player who currently plays for the UP Lady Fighting Maroons of the University of the Philippines-Diliman. She is a member of both the indoor and beach volleyball collegiate varsity teams of the university.

Eya Laure

Ejiya Cruz Laure is a Filipina volleyball player. She currently plays for UST Golden Tigresses volleyball team in the UAAP and Chery Tiggo Crossovers in the Philippine Super Liga. She is a member of the Philippines women's national volleyball team.
