Pacific Conservatory of the Performing Arts (PCPA) is a presenting and training professional residential theatre company in Santa Maria, California, offering a two-year acting and technical theatre conservatory program, operating out of Allan Hancock College. [1]
Onstage and offstage, PCPA provides specialized training for its students. The two-year vocational certificate program combines lectures, labs, and classes with the practical hands-on training where students learn through mounting a fully realized production. Conservatory students are mentored by practicing professionals in the classroom.
For actors, the comprehensive curriculum offers no elective subjects. It is a full-time, six-days-a-week commitment. Among the classes offered are: Acting, Voice, Movement, Musical Theatre Ensemble, Shakespeare, Theatre History, Stage Combat. The technical theatre students examine all aspects of production enabling them to develop as designers, craftspeople and technicians. Their areas of study include Stagecraft, Lighting, Sound, Drawing and Rendering, Costuming and Scene Painting. [2]

PCPA receives operating funds from the Allan Hancock College, an endowment, ticket revenue, and the fundraising efforts of the PCPA Foundation to secure corporate and individual donations. [5]

The San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts, known as SDSCPA, is an audition-only public arts magnet school in southeastern San Diego, California, US. The San Diego SCPA is a non-tuition, public, dedicated magnet school in the San Diego Unified School District serving families throughout San Diego County. The San Diego SCPA provides pre-professional training in the arts alongside a college preparatory curriculum. All students audition and complete a required series of specialized arts training in Theater, Music, Dance, Visual and Cinematic Arts, or Creative Writing. Upon graduation, most SDSCPA students continue to universities or conservatories for further study in the arts and academics. Electric Theatre Company was a non-profit, regional, Equity theatre company located in Scranton, Pennsylvania. The company was founded in 1992 as The Northeastern Theatre Ensemble by Zeve Ben Dov and played in Scranton for eight years before moving to Keystone College for four years. Artistic leadership was taken up by David Zarko in 2001, and he continued in that position through the company's final season in 2011. The theatre returned to downtown Scranton in 2005 and began the 2008-2009 season under its new name. From 2005 until its demise in 2011, it performed in the old Hotel Jermyn's main ballroom, which was converted into a 99-130 seat, flexible black box theatre. Also within the facility was The Ballroom, a space used for parties, workshops, theatre lab experiments, and classes. ETC closed in June 2011 and was officially disbanded within the following year due to difficulties in maintaining funding levels; although numbers of both donors and audience continued to grow into the final season, dollar amounts fell below a sustainable level.
