Nealan (Neal) of Queenscove – Kel's year-mate and best friend. He has a sarcastic view of the world and would rather study than train.
Owen of Jesslaw – a year behind Neal and Kel, Owen is an outspoken young boy. He is known for his abounding courage and almost unflappable good nature.
Merric of Hollyrose – one of Kel's friends.
Joren of Stone Mountain – Kel's rival.
Lord Wyldon of Cavall – Kel's training master, and one of her principal critics.
Lord Raoul of Goldenlake – the head of the King's bodyguard; earlier shown in the Song of the Lioness series.

Éowyn is a fictional character in J. R. R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings. She is a noblewoman of Rohan who calls herself a shieldmaiden.
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers is a 2002 epic fantasy adventure film directed by Peter Jackson, based on the second volume of J. R. R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings. Kimberly Ann Hart is a fictitious character in the Power Rangers universe. Played by American actress Amy Jo Johnson during the first three seasons of the show, plus on the two feature films of the franchise, Kimberly has the longest tenure of any female ranger in the series' history, and fourth overall. She is possibly the best remembered as the first Pink Ranger and first Pink Ninja Ranger from the first entry of the franchise Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Kimberly was the Pink Ranger for nearly three years before she was written off the show as having given up her powers for good to Zordon's new pink ranger Katherine Hillard, to participate at the Pan Global Games in Florida.

Peter and the Shadow Thieves is a children's novel that was published by Hyperion Books, a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company, in 2006. Written by humorist Dave Barry and novelist Ridley Pearson, the book is a sequel to their book Peter and the Starcatchers, continuing the story of the orphan Peter and his latest adventures with the Starcatchers. The "Starcatchers" series is an epic story of a battle between good and evil, incorporating a reimagined version of characters and situations from J.M. Barrie's classic novel Peter and Wendy. On October 1, 2010, the final book of the series, The Final Quest, was released, concluding its eleven-year run. The series consisting of 44 books are still published. The series was named by the American Booksellers Association among the top ten books for Harry Potter fans.
Lady Knight is the fourth book in the Protector of the Small quartet by Tamora Pierce. This book is Kel's first appearance as a Knight of the Realm.

Written by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson, the book is an unauthorized reimagining of characters and situations from Peter Pan, or the Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up by J. M. Barrie, and tells the story of an orphan named Peter. It was illustrated by artist Greg Call. It is a sequel and fourth installment to Barry and Pearson's "Starcatchers" series, best-sellers released in 2004–2007, which was originally said at the time to be a trilogy. This book was released on October 13, 2009. The next book, called The Bridge to Neverland, was published in 2011.
Raoul of Goldenlake is a fictional character in many of author Tamora Pierce's writings. He first appears in her Song of the Lioness quartet and is also a major character in the Protector of the Small series.
