Pakistan Islamic Medical Association (PIMA) is a Pakistani Medical association, which was established in October 1979 [1] .
The organization dates back to 1979, when fifty doctors from all over Pakistan met at the Student’s Teacher’s Center (STC) of the Punjab University, Lahore, in October. They laid down the foundation of an organization named Pakistan Doctors Forum (PDF), a fraternity of the medical profession. The PDF carried on its mission for two years, initially emphasizing organizational work and the membership drive. [2] At the April 1981 convention of the PDF in Rawalpindi, the forum renamed to the "Pakistan Islamic Medical Association". PIMA is an active member of the Federation of Islamic Medical Association (FIMA), an international forum for collaboration of all Islamic medical associations around the globe. In the journey through 25 years, PIMA has emerged as a strong forum for Muslim medical professionals to use their profession to help people in need and to provide relief to oppressed humanity in the country and around the globe.
Since its inception, PIMA has been striving to achieve its goals in the professional development and training of doctors while promoting an Islamic way of life through its regular Dawah, training workshops and seminars. PIMA relief has consistently been at the forefront during national and global disasters, including earthquakes, tsunamis, floods, cyclones, and wars. [3] PIMA has established medical institutions of international repute, contributing to quality medical, dental, and allied specialties. Through its regular contribution to health awareness, education, and community services, PIMA has been regularly struggling to upbringing the health of the masses. The health institutions of PIMA, like hospitals, clinics, free medical camps, and specialized campaigns, remained instrumental in alleviating the suffering of those who were otherwise not cared for. PIMA has developed specialized expertise in managing disasters of all sorts, whether artificial or natural. PIMA Project Prevention of Blindness Trust [4] has remarkable services for the prevention of blindness at national and international levels. PIMA established projects of international repute in collaboration with FIMA, [5] like the Consortium of Islamic Medical Colleges (CIMCO), Islamic Hospital Consortium (IHC), FIMA Save Vision, [6] FIMA Save Dignity and many other projects. PIMA's mega projects like Peshawar Medical College and Mega Pharmaceutical Industry are some of their achievements that serve the community at large.

Prevention of Blindness Trust, also known as the POB Trust and POB, is a project of Pakistan Islamic Medical Association. Prevention Of Blindness Trust was established in July 2000 as a leading volunteer eye care organization with the sole mission of preventing blindness and preserving sight. POB Trust declared exempted from tax Federal Board of Revenue (Pakistan) POB Trust endeavors to develop strategies for prevention and control of blindness and visual impairment. The prime objective of POB Trust is to promote and sustain a global campaign against all forms of avoidable blindness with emphasis on deprived communities. This initiative brings with it a great challenge and an exciting hope for all who work towards this goal. It is also a member of the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness for the VISION 2030: The Right to Sight.

Sayed Amjad Hussain is a Pakistani-American cardiothoracic surgeon and writer from Maumee, Ohio. He invented two surgical devices – the pleuroperitoneal shunt and a special endotracheal tube. He was a member of Team Indus which covered the entire 2,000 miles of the river Indus in Pakistan from its source in Western Tibet. This trip was claimed to have been the third expedition in history to reach that site. The achievements of Team Indus were entered into Congressional Records of the U.S. Congress in June 1997. While on a humanitarian mission, he donated tons of supplies and equipment to the Dominican Republic, China and Pakistan. Also, his photographs have appeared on 35 magazine covers and in 8 calendars. The Herald Magazine August 2003, introduced Hussain as the jack-of-all-trades and master of many.
