Periasamy operates the PGP Group of companies. This includes Dharani Sugars & Chemicals Limited shares in which are traded on the Chennai, BSE and NSE stock exchanges. [1] Other past and present ventures include Dharani Finance Limited, Dharani international Sourcing & Trading, Dharani Developers Limited and Appu Hotels Limited, primarily a vehicle for acquisition of hotels.[ citation needed ]

Dharani Cements Limited was formerly in the group. Established in Ariyalur District, it was later sold to the Aditya Birla Group. [2]

He was honoured with Padmashree Ma.Po.Si award for the year 2012.[ citation needed ]

Ranipet district is one of the 38 districts of Tamil Nadu, India, formed by trifuricating the Vellore district. The Government of Tamil Nadu has announced its proposal on 15 August 2019, together with Tirupattur district. However it was officially declared on 28 November 2019 by Tamil Nadu Govt. The town of Ranipet would serve as the district headquarters.
