The Palatka Daily News is a local newspaper in Palatka, Florida, United States. It publishes on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. [1] Coverage includes local news, sports and community events in Putnam County.
The Palatka Daily News was founded in 1885. [1] The newspaper was purchased by The New York Times Company in 1972, [2] who sold it Community Newspapers, Inc. in 2000. [3] [4]
In April 2023, the newspaper decreased the number of prints editions from five a week to three. [5]
In June 2024, the newspaper was sold to Charlie Douglas who operates the paper under the name Blue Crab Publishing LLC. [6] The following month the newspaper announced it was closing its printing press and laid off several employees. [7]

Eagle Newspapers was an American newspaper publisher serving the states of Oregon, Washington and Idaho. The company originated in 1948 when Elmo Smith purchased the Blue Mountain Eagle. He would later sell the paper but the company's name would be derived from that title. Smith served a partial term as Oregon Governor and upon his death the business was managed by his son Denny Smith, who rapidly grew it from three newspapers to nearly twenty in the span of two decades. By 1985, Eagle Newspapers publications accounted for nearly one-half of the weekly newspapers sold each week in Oregon. The company sold off its last paper in 2020.
