Pali Village

Pali Village sometimes also referred as (Pali Goathan) is a small urban village in the Bandra suburb of Mumbai, India (formerly Bombay). Established in 1700s, it has lend its name to localities like Pali Hill and Pali Naka, [1] Today, it is developing as a destination for heath spas and holistic healing centres, as well as chic restaurants. [2] [3]

Overview

It is a mixed-zone neighborhood of Bandra and lies 650 meters from the coastline. The nearest coastline is the Carter Road edge of the Arabian Sea. Pali Village's Area Locality Management is known as PVRCF, or the Pali Village Residents Civic Forum, whose membership includes all residents of the Village. PVRCF's current Gen. Secretary is Asif Farooqui [4]

Pali Village was settled around 1700 by the British Colonial Rulers[ citation needed ]

It is close to Pali Hill and Linking Road and its residents are mainly Catholics and Muslims.

Bandra also known as Vandre is an upscale coastal suburb located in Mumbai, India. The suburb is located to the immediate north of the Mithi River, which separates Bandra from Mumbai City district. The Western Freeway was a proposed controlled-access highway in Mumbai, India that would stretch from Marine Drive in South Mumbai to Kandivli in the north, a distance of 29 km. The project envisioned the construction of four major sea links over the Arabian Sea along Mumbai's western coastline to reduce traffic-congestion between the Western Suburbs and South Mumbai.

Castella de Aguada Historic fort in India

Castella de Aguada, also known as the Bandra Fort, is a fort located in Bandra, Mumbai. "Castella" is a misspelling for Portuguese "Castelo" (castle), although it seems its Portuguese builders actually called it Forte de Bandorá. It is located at Land's End in Bandra. It was built by the Portuguese in 1640 as a watchtower overlooking Mahim Bay, the Arabian Sea and the southern island of Mahim. The strategic value of the fort was enhanced in 1661 after the Portuguese ceded the seven islands of Bombay that lay to the immediate south of Bandra to the English. The name indicates its origin as a place where fresh water was available in the form of a fountain ("Aguada") for Portuguese ships cruising the coasts in the initial period of Portuguese presence. The fort lies over several levels, from sea level to an altitude of 24 metres (79 ft). Castella de Aguada has been featured in several Hindi films, such as Dil Chahta Hai and Buddha Mil Gaya.

Bandra–Worli Sea Link Bridge connecting Bandra and Worli, Mumbai, India

The Bandra–Worli Sea Link is a 5.6 km long, 8-lane wide bridge that links Bandra in the Western Suburbs of Mumbai with Worli in South Mumbai. It is the 4th longest bridge in India after Bhupen Hazarika Setu, Dibang River Bridge and Mahatma Gandhi Setu. It is a cable-stayed bridge with pre-stressed concrete-steel viaducts on either side. It was planned as a part of the proposed Western Freeway that would link the Western Suburbs to Nariman Point in Mumbai's main business district, but is now planned to become part of the Coastal Road to Kandivali.

Khar is an affluent suburb of Mumbai, north of Bandra and south of Santacruz, Mumbai. Originally one of the 'villages' that made up the larger Bandra, the present suburb is divided into Khar West and Khar East areas. Bandra Fair

Bandra Fair is a week-long fair held annually in the Bandra suburb of Mumbai (Bombay), India. It starts on 8 September at the Mount Mary Church, Bandra, the feast day of the Nativity of Mary, the virgin-mother of Jesus Christ, who is referred to as Saibini in vernacular. The Bandra Fair is estimated to be around 300 years old. The fair started when a statue of Mother Mary was found floating in the Arabian Sea between 1700 and 1760, which, according to a legend, a Koli fisherman had dreamt about a few years earlier. Monti Fest celebrated by Goans and Mangaloreans is similar to the Bandra Fest, and coincides with the Nativity of Our Lady.

Sacred Heart Church, Santacruz Church in Mumbai, India

Bombay and Bandra Bakar Kasai Jamat Mosques Trust is a three hundred (300) years old trust public trust based in Mumbai. This trust was constructed and is currently maintained the Jama Masjid, Bandra. It is one of the oldest trust of India.
