The National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) is an American soccer league commonly recognized as being a fourth-tier league, although it has been given no official designation by U.S. Soccer. The NPSL is a semi-professional league, comprising some teams that have paid players and some that are entirely amateur. Although the league is officially affiliated to the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA) and qualifies for the U.S. Open Cup through USASA channels, it is generally considered to be the level of competition behind Major League Soccer (MLS), the USL Championship, USL League One, and roughly equal with USL League Two. It is the successor of the Men's Premier Soccer League, a regional league originally based in the Western United States, which has now expanded nationwide to encompass teams from 29 states. The league's motto is "A National League with a Regional Focus".
Atlanta Soccer Club is an American soccer team based in Atlanta, Georgia that plays in the National Independent Soccer Association, a Division III professional league. Founded in 2007 as Atlanta FC, it became the reserve team of the Atlanta Silverbacks in 2011, and took over the name of the first team when it folded in 2016. On January 4, 2019, the club announced that it had parted ways with the group running Atlanta Silverbacks Park, its stadium, and had to change its name as a result. The new logo and colors refer to the peach, a state symbol of Georgia.

Prior to joining the NISA in 2019, the club played in the Midwest Region of the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL), a national amateur league in the unofficial fourth tier of the American Soccer Pyramid. The club played its home matches at Cass Technical High School in downtown Detroit until 2015, before moving to Keyworth Stadium in Hamtramck, an enclave of Detroit. The club is managed by Trevor James, a former Ipswich Town F.C. player who later was an assistant coach and scout under Bobby Robson.

They most recently played in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL), the fourth tier of the American soccer pyramid, during the 2018 season while also retaining their membership in the North American Soccer League (NASL), a league that was in the second tier but postponed its 2018 season. The Armada play their home games at Hodges Stadium on the campus of the University of North Florida.
