WFMU is a listener-supported, independent community radio station licensed to East Orange, New Jersey. It broadcasts at 91.1 Mhz FM in Jersey City, New Jersey. It also broadcasts to the Hudson Valley, the Lower Catskills, western New Jersey, and eastern Pennsylvania from Mount Hope, New York at 90.1 WMFU, and to New York City and Rockland County at 91.9 FM. Overall, it covers most of the New York metropolitan area, and presents a freeform radio format. It is the longest-running freeform radio station in the U.S. The station's main terrestrial transmitter is located in West Orange, New Jersey.

Kibera is a division of Nairobi Area, Kenya, and neighbourhood of the city of Nairobi, 6.6 kilometres (4.1 mi) from the city centre. Kibera is the largest slum in Nairobi, and the largest urban slum in Africa. The 2009 Kenya Population and Housing Census reports Kibera's population as 170,070, contrary to previous estimates of one or two million people. Other sources suggest the total Kibera population may be 500,000 to well over 1,000,000 depending on which slums are included in defining Kibera.
CKSB-10-FM is a Canadian public radio station serving the Winnipeg Capital Region in Manitoba. It is owned by the Société Radio-Canada (CBC) and airs the Ici Radio-Canada Première network, concentrating on news and talk in the French language. It had been licensed to Saint Boniface, which was a separate city until it was annexed by Winnipeg in 1971. Even though the call sign includes a number, usually indicating the station is a rebroadcaster, CKSB-10-FM originates some of its own local programming and contributes to the Ici Radio-Canada Première network.

He served as the Africa correspondent for CNN and CNN International from 2001 to 2007, and later as chief reporter at TV station K24 from 2007 to December 2012. Before joining KTN, he worked with KTN on his branded news program, Jeff Koinange Live. He had earlier served as the chief anchor Africa for Arise Television Ltd based in Johannesburg. He joined East Africa's Got Talent as a judge alongside Gaetano Kagwa, Makeda and Vanessa Mdee.
KCFR-FM is a radio station in Denver, Colorado, which is owned and operated by Colorado Public Radio and simulcast to several AM and FM stations throughout the state. Registered as an NGO in Kenya and a 501(c)3 in the US, CFK is a pioneer of grassroots participatory development, and leads a community-based sports program, girls' empowerment centre, medical clinic, maternity centre, nutrition centre, young health and wellness centre, community-health outreach program, scholarship program, entrepreneurship and economic development initiatives, and a research-based initiative to improve educational quality in informal schools in Kibera. CFK is also an affiliated entity at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and has an office in the university's FedEx Global Education Center.

Korogocho is one of the largest slum neighbourhoods of Nairobi, Kenya. Home to 150,000 to 200,000 people pressed into 1.5 square kilometres, northeast of the city centre, Korogocho was founded as a shanty town on the then outskirts of the city.
Mukuru kwa Njenga is a slum in the East of Nairobi, the capital of Kenya. It belongs to Embakasi south Constituency, but extends into Makadara and Starehe constituencies. It is one of the largest slums in Nairobi. It stretches along the Nairobi Ngong river, situated on waste lands in the industrial area of the city between the Outer Ring Road and the North Airport Road and mombasa road. Mukuru has villages: Mukuru kwa Reuben, Mukuru kwa Njenga, Sinai, Paradise, Jamaica, Kingstone, Mariguini, Fuata Nyayo and Kayaba. The population of the slum exceeds 100,000.
Kangemi is a middle-class neighborhood in Kenya located, like many other neighborhoods in Nairobi, on the outskirts of the city. It is bordered on the north by the middle-class neighborhoods of Loresho and Kibagare and Westlands on its west. Its southern border connects with Kawangware, another large slum and its eastern border connects to Mountain View, another middle class enclave. It is on the road connecting Nairobi with Naivasha. Kangemi likely has more than 100,000 residents. While it is a multi-ethnic slum, the largest group of residents consists of the Luhya tribe.

Joel Bergner is a muralist/ street artist and educator who creates large-scale works of art with the participation of young people and communities around the world. Bergner is the co-founder and co-director of the non-profit organization Artolution, which organizes community-based public art initiatives with those who have experienced armed conflict, trauma and social marginalization. He has led such projects with incarcerated teenagers, Syrian refugees, youth from slum areas, the mentally and physically disabled, young people with substance abuse issues, orphans and street children.

SHOFCO serves more than 350,000 urban slum dwellers in 10 slums across three cities in Kenya.
