Panjab Singh is the first and incumbent chancellor of Rani Lakshmi Bai Central Agricultural University,and the president of Foundation for Advancement of Agriculture and Rural development (FAARD Foundation). [1] [2] He has previously served as the 23rd Vice-Chancellor of Banaras Hindu University (2005-2008), [3] [4] and president National Academy of Agricultural Sciences (2017-2019). [5] [6]
Banaras Hindu University (BHU) is a collegiate,central,and research university located in Varanasi,Uttar Pradesh,India,and founded in 1916. The university incorporated the Central Hindu College,founded by Indian Home Rule-leaguer and Theosophist,Annie Besant in 1898. After Besant and her associates were marginalised,the university was established by Madan Mohan Malaviya with the support of the maharaja of Darbhanga Rameshwar Singh,the maharaja of Benares Prabhu Narayan Singh,and the lawyer Sunder Lal. With over 30,000 students,and 18,000 residing on campus,BHU is the largest residential university in Asia. The university is one of the eight public institutions declared as an Institute of Eminence by the Government of India. It is also one of the 12 institutions from India in BRICS Universities League,a consortium of leading research universities from BRICS countries.
The University of Delhi,informally known as Delhi University,is a collegiate research central university located in Delhi,India. It was founded in 1922 by an Act of the Central Legislative Assembly and is recognised as an Institute of Eminence (IoE) by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The Vice President of India serves as the university chancellor. The university is ranked 6th by National Institutional Ranking Framework 2024.
The University of Allahabad is a Central University located in Prayagraj,Uttar Pradesh. It was established on 23 September 1887 by an act of Parliament and is recognised as an Institute of National Importance (INI). It is the 4th oldest modern University in India. Its origins lie in the Muir Central College,named after Lt. Governor of North-Western Provinces Sir William Muir in 1873,who suggested the idea of a Central University at Allahabad,which later evolved to the present university. Karan Singh is an Indian politician and philosopher. He is the titular Maharaja of the princely state of Jammu and Kashmir. From 1952 to 1965 he was the Sadr-i-Riyasat (President) of the state of Jammu and Kashmir. The Nari Shakti Puraskar is an annual award given by the Ministry of Women and Child Development of the Government of India to individual women or to institutions that work towards the cause of women empowerment. It is the highest civilian honour for women in India,and is presented by the president of India on International Women's Day at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. The award was instituted in 1999 under the title of Stree Shakti Puraskar,renamed and reorganised in 2015. Lalji Singh FNA,FASc was an Indian scientist who worked in the field of DNA fingerprinting technology in India and pioneer of Assisted reproductive technology,where he was popularly known as the "Father of Indian DNA fingerprinting". Singh also worked in the areas of molecular basis of sex determination,wildlife conservation forensics and evolution and migration of humans. In 2004,he received the Padma Shri in recognition of his contribution to Indian science and technology.
Professor Dinesh Singh,chancellor K.R. Mangalam University is an Indian professor of mathematics. He served as the 21st Vice-Chancellor of the University of Delhi,is a distinguished fellow of Hackspace at Imperial College London,and has been an adjunct professor of Mathematics at the University of Houston. For his services to the nation he was conferred with the Padma Shri which is the fourth highest civilian award awarded by the Republic of India.
The Banaras Hindu University Students' Union generally abbreviated as BHU Students' Union or BHUSU,was the students' union of Banaras Hindu University. The Students' Union had been responsible for representing students,both within the University and externally for all academic,non-academic and student welfare purposes.
Sudhir Kumar Sopory is an Indian educationist,plant physiologist,scientist and former vice chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University,New Delhi. He is known to be the first to purify a protein kinase C activity from plants and is credited with the identification of topoisomerase as a substrate of protein kinase C. He is an elected Fellow of several major Indian science academies and The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) and is a recipient of many honours,including the 1987 Shanti Swarup Bhatangar Prize,the highest Indian award in the science and technology categories. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri,in 2007,for his contributions to science and technology.
Harkishan Singh was Professor Emeritus at the Panjab University. He was a well recognized pharmaceutical academic,medicinal chemistry researcher and science historian. He had more than half a century experience in his respective fields to his credit. He worked at the Banaras Hindu University,University of Saugar,and the Panjab University in India,and abroad at the University of Maryland,University of Mississippi and the University of London.
Virender Lal Chopra was an Indian biotechnologist,geneticist,agriculturalist and a director-general of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR),known to have contributed to the development of wheat production in India. He was the chancellor of Central University of Kerala,a Chancellor of the Central Agricultural University,Imphal and a member of the Planning Commission of India. An elected fellow of several science academies such as Indian Academy of Sciences,Indian National Science Academy,National Academy of Agricultural Sciences,National Academy of Sciences,India,European Academy of Sciences and Arts and The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS),he was a recipient of a number of honors including Borlaug Award,FAO World Food Day Award and Om Prakash Bhasin Award. The Government of India awarded him the third highest civilian honour of the Padma Bhushan,in 1985,for his contributions to agricultural science.
Ram Badan Singh is an Indian agricultural scientist,academic and the chancellor of the Central Agricultural University.
Ram Harsh Singh is an Indian practitioner of the Ayurveda system of alternative medicine and the founder vice chancellor of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Rajasthan Ayurved University. An Emeritus Professor of Banaras Hindu University and a National Professor of the Ministry of AYUSH of the Government of India,he was conferred with the fourth highest civilian honour of Padma Shri,in 2016.
Rakesh Bhatnagar is an Indian educationist,scientist,and the current Vice Chancellor of Amity University Rajasthan. Previously he has served as the 27th Vice-Chancellor of Banaras Hindu University.

Amar Chand Joshi was an Indian botanist and academic administrator,who served as the Vice-Chancellor of Panjab University,Chandigarh,India;and the Vice-Chancellor of Banaras Hindu University,Varanasi,India. The standard author abbreviation Joshi is used to indicate this person as the author when citing a botanical name. Joshi co authored a book titled Lahore District Flora with Shiv Ram Kashyap. It was published by Punjab University in 1936.
Sudhir Kumar Jain is the incumbent and 28th Vice-Chancellor of Banaras Hindu University. He is a civil engineer by education and has formerly served three terms as the founding director of the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar. He has carried out intensive research and development in the fields of seismic design codes,dynamic of buildings,and post-earthquake studies. Beside these,Jain has actively participated in teaching,research activities and development in earthquake engineering focused on developing countries. He is an elected fellow of Indian National Academy of Engineering. He was also elected a member of U.S. National Academy of Engineering (2021) for leadership in earthquake engineering in developing countries.
