Sports in Malaysia are an important part of Malaysian culture. Sports in Malaysia are popular from both the participation and spectating aspect. Malaysians from different walks of life join in a wide variety of sports for recreation as well as for competition. In the broadest definition of sports—physical exercise of all sorts—the four most popular recreational sports among the general population of Malaysia are exercise walking, aerobic exercise, strength training, and running. Other most popular sports are bicycling, swimming, climbing, camping, bowling, hiking, fishing, scuba diving and paragliding.
The Australia national badminton team, also known as The Falcons, represents Australia in international badminton team competitions. The team is controlled by Badminton Australia, the leading authority for badminton in the country. The team's history dates back to 1900, with the establishment of Badminton Australia in 1932 leading to the formation of the national team. The Falcons made their international debut in the 1955 Thomas Cup.
The Para-Badminton World Championships is an individual bi-annual event organized by the BWF. The highest ranked para-badminton players compete in six Sport Classes in five categories. The championships was organized under Para Badminton World Federation (PBWF) before it decided to join with BWF in June 2011.
Setyana Daniella Florensia Mapasa is an Indonesian-born Australian badminton player. Mapasa won a silver medal at the 2013 BWF World Junior Championships mixed team when she represented Indonesia. She officially became an Australian citizen in 2014. She was selected to join the national team compete at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia. She was four times women's doubles Oceania champions from 2017 to 2020 with her partner Gronya Somerville, also two times champion in the mixed doubles event in 2017 and 2018 alongside Sawan Serasinghe.
Lakshya Sen is an Indian badminton player. He's a former World Junior No. 1. Sen is a bronze medalist at the World Championships, a gold medalist at the Thomas Cup, a silver medalist at the Asian Games and a gold and silver medalist at the Commonwealth Games. He has also won bronze medals at the Asia Team and Asia Mixed Team Championships. Sen won the Canada Open and was the runner-up at the All England Open. At the junior level, he has won a gold and silver medal at the Youth Olympic Games, a bronze medal at World Junior Championships and a gold and bronze medal at Asia Junior Championships.
Kevin James Dennerly-Minturn is a New Zealand badminton player. In 2014, he competed at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.
Manasi Joshi is an Indian para-badminton player. She is a former world champion in para badminton women's singles SL3 category. On 8 March 2022, she was ranked world No.1 in women's singles SL3 category.
Robert Lin Woon Fui is a former Malaysian national badminton player. He came fifth at the 2006 IBF World Championships – Men's doubles with his partner Mohd Fairuzizuan Mohd Tazari. Lin works as a player-coach at the AirAsia Badminton Academy. In July 8, 2022, Lin was charged in the Sessions Court Shah Alam, Malaysia with two counts of cheating. The charge, framed under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property, carry a sentence of up to 10 years jail, whipping and a fine, upon conviction.
The Samoa national badminton team represents Samoa in international badminton team competitions and is controlled by the Samoa Badminton Association located in Apia. It is associated with Badminton Oceania. The Samoan team once won bronze in the 2007 South Pacific Games mixed team event.

Abu Hubaida is an Indian professional para-badminton player. He made his international debut in 2016. He won his 1st international title for his country when he won a gold & a bronze medal in Uganda Para-Badminton International in 2017. He became national champion of men's singles in 2018 by beating former national champion Sanjeev Kumar.
Grant Manzoney is an Australian Paralympic badminton player. He competed at the 2020 Summer Paralympics where badminton made its Paralympics debut.
Lim Chong King is a Malaysian badminton player. He won his first senior title in 2019 at the Hellas Open.

Badminton was introduced to Singapore by the British in the early 19th century. By the mid-1920s, the game became increasingly popular and spread quickly to the rest of the local population. Amid the rising popularity, badminton enthusiasts began forming clubs, or “parties”, to meet and play the game. It was during this period that the Singapore Badminton Association (SBA) was established to promote the sport and organise competitions. The first official annual open championships was held in that period with the best players from the tournament such as E. J. Vass, Tan Chong Tee, Alice Pennefather and Ong Siew Eng were chosen to represent Singapore in the regional tournaments.
Tay Wei Ming is a Singaporean para-badminton player. He was Singapore's first ever Para-Badminton world champion. He won the BWF Para-Badminton World Championships in 2017, when he partnered Indonesia's Suryo Nugroho to defeat the World No.1 Malaysian pair of Cheah Liek Hou and Hairol Fozi Saaba to claim gold in the men’s doubles SU5.
Manega Tapari is a Papua New Guinean para-athete, para-badminton player, and para taekwando competitor. She represented Papua New Guinea in para taekwondo at the 2024 Summer Paralympics.
