The Paris-Est Sup is an association of universities and higher education institutions (ComUE) [1] federating two universities and other institutions of higher education and research in the Paris-Est (eastern Paris) region.

Contents

Originally organized as a Pôle de recherche et d'enseignement supérieur (PRES) in March 2007, the founding members were University of Marne-la-Vallée and École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées. [2]

In application of the Law on Higher Education and Research (France), the University of Paris-Est became an association of universities and higher education institutions (ComUE) on 1 March 2015. [3]

The ComUE in the Toulouse region was known as Federal University of Toulouse Midi-Pyrénées. On January 1, 2023, the university was renamed as the University of Toulouse.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">École Nationale des Chartes</span>

The École Nationale des Chartes is a French grande école and a constituent college of Université PSL, specialising in the historical sciences. It was founded in 1821, and was located initially at the National Archives, and later at the Palais de la Sorbonne. In October 2014, it moved to 65 rue de Richelieu, opposite the Richelieu-Louvois site of the National Library of France. The school is administered by the Ministry of National Education, Higher Education and Research. It holds the status of a grand établissement. Its students, who are recruited by competitive examination and hold the status of trainee civil servant, receive the qualification of archivist-paleographer after completing a thesis. They generally go on to pursue careers as heritage curators in the archive and visual fields, as library curators or as lecturers and researchers in the human and social sciences. In 2005, the school also introduced master's degrees, for which students were recruited based on an application file, and, in 2011, doctorates.

French university associations known as "pôles de recherche et d'enseignement supérieur" were a form of higher-level organization for universities and other institutions established by French law in effect from 2007 to 2013. The 2013 Law on Higher Education and Research (France) discontinued the PRES; these have been largely replaced by the new Communities of Universities and Institutions. The list below indicates the status of those institutions designated as PRES or related associations before the 2013 law took effect.
