Pascal Briand

Pascal Briand (born 9 July 1976) is a French long track speed skater who participates in international competitions. Pascal Briand recently joined the Powerslide skate company in Germany where he is involved in the development of their speed skate products.

Ice skating is the self-propulsion and gliding of a person across an ice surface, using metal-bladed ice skates. People skate for various reasons, including recreation (fun), exercise, competitive sports, and commuting. The International Skating Union (ISU) is the international governing body for competitive ice skating disciplines, including figure skating, synchronized skating, speed skating, and short track speed skating. It was founded in Scheveningen, Netherlands, in July 1892, making it one of the oldest international sport federations. The ISU was formed to establish standardized international rules and regulations for the skating disciplines it governs, and to organize international competitions in these disciplines. It is now based in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Speed skating at the 2022 Winter Olympics will be held at the National Speed Skating Oval in Beijing, China between 5 and 19 February 2022. It will be the 24th time speed skating will be held at the Winter Olympics. A total of 14 events will be contested, 7 for men and 7 for women, the same 14 events as in 2018. For more gender equality the maximum quota places are the same for men as for women with 83 speed skaters per gender, with the total quota places reduced from 180 to 166.
