Passwords are a Canadian rock band formed in 2009 in Montreal, fronted by Thomas L'Allier and Emmanuel Ethier.
Passwords was created by vocalist and guitarist Thomas L'Allier and long-time musical partner Emmanuel Ethier. [1] They both started working on songs together back in their teenage years. "We all met in high school, back when I was part of a blues rock band. I eventually got bored of 3 chord riffs, and started to write songs with Emmanuel, who was studying classical violin at the time," says L'Allier. "We sort of combined sounds and influences, to create something more challenging and substantial." [1]
They later recruited Carmel Scurti-Belley and Maxime Castellon, becoming an official band and starting work on their first full-length album. [2]
"I guess the way the album came along is pretty unique. Emmanuel came up with all the drum parts, which is odd considering he's not a drummer. It gave the whole thing a very "guitary" approach. We then recorded with a 'real' drummer to make everything work. Also, we tend to go all-out with arrangements, no-holds-barred. Finally, I'd say the fact that we fully commit to our folk/rock influences, but without sticking to the standard forms and structures of those genres, makes everything stand out" says L'Allier. [1]
Recognized for their pastoral pop sound, dwelling between psychedelic rock and lovelorn folk, the band began gathering a lot of interest in their local independent music scene. [3] Noticed during a breakthrough performance at the Pop Music Festival in Montreal, the band was signed to a record deal.
After more than two years in the making, their self-titled debut album was released April 26, 2011 through Mercy in Canada. [4]
In 2011, the band appeared at the NXNE music festival in Toronto. [5] Additionally, the band played the 2011 Osheaga Festival in Montreal, as well as many other local shows throughout Canada. [6]

Gym Class Heroes were an American rap rock band from Geneva, New York. The group formed in 1997 when Travie McCoy met drummer Matt McGinley during their high school gym class. The band's music displays a wide variety of influences, including hip hop, rock, funk, and reggae. After the addition of guitarist Disashi Lumumba-Kasongo and bassist Eric Roberts in 2003, the group was signed to Fueled by Ramen and Decaydance Records, on which they released their debut album, The Papercut Chronicles. The group gained a strong fanbase while promoting the album, appearing at festivals such as The Bamboozle and Vans Warped Tour.
Hot Chip are an English synthpop band formed in London in 2000. The group consists of multi-instrumentalists Alexis Taylor, Joe Goddard, Al Doyle, Owen Clarke, and Felix Martin. They are occasionally supplemented by former member Rob Smoughton and Sarah Jones for live performances and studio recordings. MGMT is an American indie rock band formed in 2002 in Middletown, Connecticut. It was founded by multi-instrumentalists Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser. Alongside VanWyngarden and Goldwasser, MGMT's live lineup currently consists of drummer Will Berman, bassist Simon O'Connor, and guitarist and keyboard James Richardson.
We Are Wolves are a Canadian indie rock band, based in Montreal, consisting of vocalist and bassist Alexander Ortiz, keyboardist/backing vocalist Vincent Levesque and drummer/vocalist Pierre-Luc Bégin. The band released their debut album, Non-Stop Je Te Plie en Deux with Fat Possum Records, in 2005. They have toured extensively across Canada, the United States, and Europe to support the album and have been playlisted on CBC Radio 3. They also performed live on the first episode of that network's live concert series, CBC Radio 3 Sessions. Their second album, Total Magique, was released September 4, 2007, with a new label Dare to Care Records.

The Humbug Tour was a world concert tour by British indie rock band Arctic Monkeys in support of their third studio album, Humbug. Although Humbug was not released until 25 August 2009, the tour started with a series of shows in Australia and New Zealand in the January of that year. Following this leg, there was a break for the band to put the finishing touches on the record. The tour then resumed in Poland on 2 July 2009. The band proceeded to tour through 2009 and into 2010, ending with 15 dates in April across the United States and Mexico.
Put the Rifle Down is a Canadian electronic dance band based in Toronto, Ontario, that were signed to Montreal label Summer Lovers Unlimited. Their debut full-length, Selector, was released in 2009. The band includes Michael Countryman (vocals), Anthony Bruno (drums/percussion), Jordan Bimm (guitar), and Mark Cassidy (synthesizers). The band formed while all four members were studying at the University of Toronto in 2004. NOW magazine considers their sound similar to that of New Order. In 2007, the band had their song Architekt featured on a vinyl-only compilation called Hordes Of Canada that was issued in the UK by Cheap Date Records. The release also included songs by Crystal Castles, We Are Wolves, and Duchess Says and is now out of print. Drowned in Sound described Architekt as "glacial downbeat-pop at its most irresistible" and wrote that Arcade Fire was "an obvious influence".

A follow up album was announced by the band while touring in 2015 but failed to materialize.
