Pat Shine is an American minor league baseball manager and former Major League coach. In 2017, he managed the Clinton LumberKings, Class A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners until June 2017. [1] He is a former member of the coaching staff of MLB's Miami Marlins, and pitched to Giancarlo Stanton in the 2016 Major League Baseball Home Run Derby, which Stanton won. [2]
Shine attended Gonzaga Preparatory School and Gonzaga University, where he played college baseball for the Gonzaga Bulldogs and the Whitworth Pirates. He became friends with Mike Redmond, his teammate in high school and college. [3] [4]
Shine coached the St. Cloud River Bats of the collegiate summer baseball Northwoods League in 1998, and took over as the team's manager in 1999. [4] In 2000, he was pitching coach for the Brewster Whitecaps of the Cape Cod Baseball League, but took over as interim manager and led the team to the league title. [5] [6]
He joined the UC Irvine Anteaters baseball team as an assistant coach in 2002, serving through 2013. [7] He has also coached for the baseball teams at the University of California, Los Angeles and Cal State Los Angeles. In 2014, he joined the Miami Marlins' major league coaching staff under Mike Redmond, focusing on instant replay. [4] [8]

Michael Patrick Redmond is an American former professional baseball catcher and manager. He is currently the bench coach for the Colorado Rockies. He played for 13 seasons in Major League Baseball with the Florida Marlins, Minnesota Twins, and Cleveland Indians. In 864 career games, Redmond recorded a batting average of .287 and accumulated 13 home runs, and 243 runs batted in (RBI).
William Joseph Haselman is an American professional baseball coach and former player. He played as a catcher in Major League Baseball (MLB) for 13 seasons between 1990 and 2003. A first-round selection in the 1987 MLB draft, he played for the Texas Rangers, Seattle Mariners, Boston Red Sox and Detroit Tigers. He previously was the bullpen coach and first base coach for the Red Sox and the third base coach for the Los Angeles Angels. He has also served as a manager in Minor League Baseball.

Andrew Junipero Fox is an American former professional baseball coach and infielder. Fox played in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1996 to 2004 for the New York Yankees, Arizona Diamondbacks, Florida Marlins, Montreal Expos, and Texas Rangers. He was a member of the 1996 World Series and 2003 World Series champions. Fox coached the Marlins from 2007 to 2009; he joined the Boston Red Sox staff in 2011, and was a coach for the team during 2022–2024.

Giancarlo Cruz Michael Stanton, formerly known as Mike Stanton, is an American professional baseball designated hitter and outfielder for the New York Yankees of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has previously played in MLB for the Florida/Miami Marlins. Stanton stands 6 feet 6 inches (1.98 m) tall and weighs 245 pounds (111 kg). He bats and throws right-handed. Stanton is the Marlins' all-time home run leader and the only active player with over 400 home runs.
Robert James Leary III is an American professional baseball scout and former coach. On November 16, 2012, he was named bench coach of the Miami Marlins of Major League Baseball, on the staff of new manager Mike Redmond. He had been a coaching assistant with the 2010–2011 Boston Red Sox and an instructor, catcher and manager in minor league baseball. He was fired by the Marlins on May 17, 2015.

On September 20, the Nationals beat the Los Angeles Dodgers to clinch the franchise's first postseason berth since 1981, as well as their first in a non-strike shortened season, and the first for a Washington-based team since the Washington Senators won the American League pennant in 1933. On October 1, the Nationals clinched the National League East title. On October 3, they went on to clinch the best record in Major League Baseball at 98–64. They played the St. Louis Cardinals in the NLDS, which they lost three games to two.
