Carlos Eduardo Martinez (born December 5, 1978), better known by his stage name Patafunk or Pata, is a Venezuelan DJ, producer, and musician with over 20 years of experience. He brings many musical styles and impressive technical skills to his DJ sets, having performed at numerous venues thanks to his eclectic taste.
Early Career (1997-2002):
In 1997, Patafunk entered a recording studio for the first time, contributing to the Latin Ska song "No Es Mi Guerra" on the Venezuela Ska Vol. 1 compilation. He recorded additional tracks for compilations and performed as the opening act for prominent Latin American bands in Maracaibo City. In 2000, Patafunk began his DJ career as a guest selector for DJ Juan Badell, playing a diverse mix of Ska, Reggae, Swing, Lounge, Rock, and other genres. Inspired by House Music during a stay in San Francisco (2002), Patafunk transitioned into the genre and secured his first residency at Fuse in North Beach.
Patafunk Events and Radio Shows (2003-2014):
Upon returning to Venezuela (2003), Patafunk collaborated with other DJs and artists to create "Patafunk" events, combining House Music, art, and fashion. These events had a significant impact on Maracaibo's music and art scene. He launched his first radio show, "Patafunk Radio," followed by "El Disco Es Cultura" on La Mega de Maracaibo. In 2007, his nationally syndicated show "Patafunk Radio" began airing on La Mega Estacion, continuing until 2014.
Musical Success and New York City (2008-2020):
Between 2008 and 2011, Patafunk released two critically acclaimed albums, "Dubdelic" and "Playa," featuring a blend of Latin, Pop, and Disco-Funk influences. His songs topped Venezuelan charts and received praise from Rolling Stone, Billboard Magazine, and MTV Latin America for their unique and pleasant sound.
He became a household name in Venezuela, touring nationwide and hosting his radio show on contemporary music. In 2010, Patafunk relocated to New York City, further establishing himself as a prolific DJ and producer. He released original singles and remixes for artists like The Knocks, Goldroom, Phoenix, and others.
As a DJ, Patafunk played regularly throughout NYC at renowned venues like Hotel Hugo, Ophelia, Buddakan, Le Bain, Soho House, Zuma and many more. His music also graced international festivals like SXSW, Tribeca Film Festival, CMJ, and Miami Art Basel.
Recent Work and Miami (2020-Present):
Patafunk's third album, "High Life!" (2020), fused his Latin-reggae roots with New York's multicultural influences. It featured over 25 musicians and spawned six music videos, with the song "Solo" reaching the Venezuelan charts. This album was released in partnership with Greenpoint Records
In 2020, he moved to La Jolla, California, to focus on music near the West Coast. This period has resulted in his fourth album, "El Baile de la Extinción" (2024), featuring a tropical Afro-Caribbean folk sound and more mature lyrics.
Patafunk relocated to Miami Beach and became a DJ who lives and plays in the Floridian city of Miami Beach and has collaborated with Venezuelan artist Edo Ilustrado and appeared on shows like "George Harris and "Entregrados"
He also initiated the music series "Patavision," currently in progress with over 98 singles released by Oct 2024. Patafunk uses Patavision as his main studio project but is currently producing other artists, while keeping his DJ life playing in awesome venues in Miami like Mila Lounge, Dante's HiFi, Juvia, Mad Radio, Miami Sound Bar, and the Piel de Oro Tan Parties among others

Latin hip hop is hip hop music that is recorded by artists in the United States of Hispanic and Latino descent, along with Spanish-speaking countries in the Caribbean, North America, Central America, South America, and Spain.
Melodía Ruiz Gutiérrez, best known by her stage name Melody, is a Spanish singer. Melody became famous at the age of 10 with her song "El baile del gorila", one of the biggest summer hits of 2001 in Spain. She has released six albums and numerous singles.
Maracaibo is a city and municipality in northwestern Venezuela, on the western shore of the strait that connects Lake Maracaibo to the Gulf of Venezuela. It is the second-largest city in Venezuela, after the national capital, Caracas, and the capital of the state of Zulia. Armando Christian Pérez, better known by his stage name Pitbull, is an American rapper, singer and actor. He began his career in the early 2000s as a reggaeton, Latin hip hop, and crunk performer, and signed with TVT Records to release his debut studio album, M.I.A.M.I. (2004). Executive produced by Lil Jon, it moderately entered the Billboard 200 along with his second and third albums, El Mariel (2006) and The Boatlift (2007). His fourth album, Pitbull Starring in Rebelution (2009), yielded his mainstream breakthrough, spawning the singles "I Know You Want Me " and "Hotel Room Service"—which peaked at numbers two and eight on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, respectively.
"La Tortura" is a song by Colombian singer-songwriter Shakira, featuring Spanish singer Alejandro Sanz, from Shakira's sixth studio album, Fijación Oral, Vol. 1 (2005). The song was written and produced by Shakira, with additional writing and production from longtime collaborators Luis Fernando Ochoa and Lester Mendez, respectively. It was released on 11 April 2005, by Epic Records, as the lead single from the album. "La Tortura" is a pop, reggaeton, and dancehall track, which lyrically tells the story of a woman who has been emotionally "tortured" because her boyfriend cheated and eventually left her for another, and has now returned begging forgiveness.
"Hips Don't Lie" is a song by Colombian singer-songwriter Shakira, featuring Haitian rapper Wyclef Jean, released by Epic Records in 2006. "Hips Don't Lie" is a reworking of Jean's earlier single "Dance Like This", therefore it features additional composing credits by Omar Alfanno, Duplessis, Luis Días, and LaTavia Parker. The song was released as the first single from the reissue of Shakira's seventh studio album, Oral Fixation, Vol. 2, and second overall. Shakira and Jean wrote the lyrics and jointly composed the music with additional co-writing by Shakira's percussionist Archie Pena. The song was produced by Shakira and Jean with additional co-production by Jerry Duplessis. The song incorporates samples from "Amores Como el Nuestro" written by Alfanno, and "Carnaval " written by Días.
Funk carioca, also known as favela funk, in other parts of the world as baile funk and Brazilian funk, or even simply funk, is a Brazilian hip hop-influenced music genre from Rio de Janeiro, taking influences from musical styles such as Miami bass and freestyle.

"Ni Rosas Ni Juguetes" is a song recorded by Mexican recording artist Paulina Rubio for her ninth studio album Gran City Pop (2009). It was written by Claudia Brant, Noel Schajris and Gianmarco Zignago, and produced by Cachorro López. Due to popularity, the song was announced as the second single on July 20, 2009, released official worldwide on August 17, 2009 by Universal Music Latin Entertainment. "Ni Rosas Ni Juguetes" is a Latin pop song with ranchera and hip-hop influences. The song's lyrics discusses Rubio's decision to overcome a relationship and her empowerment.

Musa(English: Muse) is the eighth studio album by Puerto Rican reggaetón singer-songwriter Ivy Queen. It was released through Siente Music on August 21, 2012 in all formats. The tracks on the album were composed by Queen and various other songwriters, including: Victor Delgado, Hiram Cruz and Francisco Saldaña. The album was produced by Luny Tunes, Noriega, Predikador, and DJ Nelson among others. The album features a variety of musical styles prominent on her previous albums Sentimiento (2007) and Drama Queen (2010).
"Peligro De Extinción" (English: Danger Of Extinction) is a Latin pop song by Puerto Rican reggaetón recording artist Ivy Queen, from her eighth studio album, Musa (2012). It was composed by Queen, Francisco Saldaña, and Víctor Delgado, produced by Noriega alongside the help of Predikador and released as the lead single off the album on March 24, 2012. The recording gained mainly positive to mixed reviews from critics, many praising the use of Edison Rey's accordion in the song. Lyrically, the song talks about how she doesn't want to be in danger of extinction, and that if there are no Romeos to sing to Juliets that the Juliets will take the role of the Romeos.
Ivy Queen Musa Sound Corporation is a multi-genre record label founded by Ivy Queen and José Guadalupe in San Juan, Puerto Rico in 2005 with the release of Ivy Queen's fifth studio album Flashback. The label also has an office in Miami, Florida. It serves the genres of reggaetón, bachata, hip hop, R&B, and various other styles of tropical and Latin music. The label has previously been distributed by Univision Records and Machete Music while currently being distributed by Siente Music since early 2012.
Muu Blanco, is a multidisciplinary Venezuelan artist. He works in the plastic arts, performance, drawing, photography, electronic music, conceptual video, and handbag design. Ulises Hadjis is a Venezuelan singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist nominated to the Latin Grammy Awards of 2012 in the Best New Artist, Best Alternative Album and Best Rock Song categories. Apart from being a musician, he graduated from sociology and most recently received a master's degree in Philosophy which are contributive factors in all of his songs. Hadjis believes that "the subconscious plays a very important role in all artists' creation process". Sandy Miranda is an actor, model and dancer, known for playing "Juan" in the Carolay series broadcast by Venevisión throughout Venezuela and by VePlus internationally. He won the Mara de Oro Internacional in 2019 as New Actor of the Year and the Tacarigua de Oro for his theatrical performances in Miami.
