Patrick K. Collins (born 12 September 1977 in Dublin, Ireland) is the current Assistant Head Coach at Greystones RFC in A.I.B League/Division 2. His previous role was as Youth Development Coach with Munster Rugby. He was appointed to the position in 2006 and worked primarily with the elite age grade players on the Munster Rugby Academy.
Collins was educated at Plymouth College, Devon, and graduated from Surrey University, Surrey (BSc in Sports Science) and at the University of Exeter (Postgraduate Education Diploma). He is a qualified P.E. teacher and has been a former Master at St. Edward's School, Oxford, England, where he was assistant to future England 7s coach Ben Ryan.
He was Head of Boys Sport at Wells Cathedral School, Somerset, England, and as Director of Sport/Rugby at Glenstal Abbey School, County Limerick. [1] While at Glenstal, Collins delivered the two most successful seasons in the history of the school with notable success in both the Senior and Junior Munster Schools Cups and success in the Gold Coast Rugby Festival in Australia. [2] After his success at Glenstal, Collins became sports Co-ordinator at Sandford Park School in Ranelagh, Dublin. He is currently Sports Co-ordinator at Wesley College, Dublin.
As a player, he played club rugby in England with Plymouth Albion [3] and Exeter Chiefs [4] (both in National Division 1), before signing with London Irish [5] in 1999 until a serious knee injury damaging both his cruciate and medial ligaments and shattering his patella (kneecap) ended his playing career. He entered coaching as a result of his injury and soon found success with various school boy and county age group teams. Patrick was appointed as Backs Coach to the Irish Exiles, and coached many players who have progressed to full international honors. With the London-based Exiles, Collins became Head Coach of the U18's and coached them to successful "inter-pro" performances against the home provinces in 2003, 2004 and 2005. [ citation needed ]
On return to Ireland, Collins took up his role with the Munster Rugby Branch and was Head Coach of the Munster Youths [6] during the 2006–2007 season. Collins worked with the IRFU High Performance Unit and assisted coaching on clinics with age grade players, and with the IRFU [7] as a talent scout identifying future potential Irish players. He is currently the Senior Backs Coach at Greystones RFC [8] who play in the Division 2 of the AIL. Currently Patrick is the head coach of Old Wesley under 20's side, coaching Irish rugby prodigies such as Juergen Steinbach and Luke De Renzy [ citation needed ]
The Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU) is the body managing rugby union in the island of Ireland. The IRFU has its head office at 10/12 Lansdowne Road and home ground at Aviva Stadium, where adult men's Irish rugby union international matches are played. In addition, the Union also owns the Ravenhill Stadium in Belfast, Thomond Park in Limerick and a number of grounds in provincial areas that have been rented to clubs.
Munster Rugby is one of the professional provincial rugby teams from the island of Ireland. They compete in the United Rugby Championship and the European Rugby Champions Cup. The team represents the IRFU's Munster Branch, which is responsible for rugby union throughout the Irish province of Munster. The team motto is "To the brave and faithful, nothing is impossible." This is derived from the motto of the MacCarthy clan – "Forti et Fideli nihil difficile". Their main home ground is Thomond Park, Limerick, though some games are played at Musgrave Park, Cork.
Thomond Park is a stadium in Limerick in the Irish province of Munster. The stadium is owned by the Munster Rugby and has Shannon RFC and UL Bohemian RFC as tenants. Limerick FC played home games in Thomond Park from 2013 to 2015 in the League of Ireland while the Markets Field was being redeveloped. The capacity of the stadium is 25,600 following its large-scale redevelopment in 2008.
Musgrave Park, known as Virgin Media Park for sponsorship reasons, is a rugby football stadium in the city of Cork, Ireland. The ground is situated on Pearse Road in Ballyphehane. The ground is named after Jimmy Musgrave, a past-president of the Irish Rugby Football Union. Owned by the Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU), it is primarily used by Dolphin RFC, Sundays Well RFC, and Munster Rugby.
Glenstal Abbey School is an all boys independent day and boarding Catholic secondary school, located on the grounds of Glenstal Abbey in Murroe, County Limerick, Ireland. It is run by monks of the Benedictine order. The school offers seven-day full boarding, as well as day boarding (Mon-Sat). The school is regularly ranked among the top schools in Ireland.
The Munster Schools Senior Cup or Munster Senior Cup is the under-age rugby union competition for schools affiliated to the Munster Branch of the IRFU. The trophy is named after Garrett Fitzgerald former CBC coach, Munster coach and Munster CEO.
The All-Ireland League (AIL), known for sponsorship reasons as the Energia All-Ireland League, is the national league system for the 50 senior rugby union clubs in Ireland, covering both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. The league was inaugurated in the 1990–91 season.

Anthony Joseph Patrick Ward, commonly referred to as Tony Ward, is an Irish former rugby union and football player during the 1970s and 1980s. He played rugby as a fly-half for, among others, Munster, Leinster, Ireland, the British and Irish Lions and the Barbarians. Ward was selected 1979 European rugby player of the year.
Denis Patrick Leamy is an Irish former rugby union player who is currently part of the coaching team with Munster. He was a back-row forward who could play either flanker or at number 8, and occasionally played at centre. He ended his club rugby career for Munster in the Pro12 and Heineken Cup, and internationally for Ireland. He officially announced his retirement in May 2012 due to a long-standing hip injury.
Bruff Rugby Football Club is a rugby union club in County Limerick, Ireland. As at September 2024 it was playing in Division 2C of the All-Ireland League. The club plays at home in Kilballyowen Park, near the town of Bruff in County Limerick. As at the 2017/18 season they were fielding 16 rugby teams at the club including 3 men's adult squads, girls' youth, minis and boys' youth rugby teams ranging in age from under-7 to under-18.
Peter Bracken is a rugby union coach and former player and retired cage fighter. He played as a prop, primarily at tighthead.
Declan Kidney is an Irish rugby union coach. He was the head coach of the Ireland national rugby union team from 2008 to 2013, where he won the 2009 Six Nations with a Grand Slam, winning the 2009 IRB Coach of the Year award. He was also the head coach at Munster, leading them to four Heineken Cup finals, winning twice in 2006 and 2008. He was recently Director of Rugby at London Irish.
The Irish Universities Rugby Union (IURU) is the representative body for University Rugby Union in Ireland. The Union was established in 1904 and currently consists of the following members; University College Dublin RFC, Dublin University FC, Queen's University RFC, University College Cork RFC, NUI Galway R.F.C., Maynoooth University R.F.C., University of Ulster Coleraine RFC, Dublin City University. In addition University of Limerick annually competes in IURU competitions.
