Patty Sonnekson

Patty Sonnekson (1927 - December 18, 1951) was an American figure skater. She competed in pairs and won the bronze medals at the 1946 U.S. Figure Skating Championships with partner Charles Brinkman. [1] [2]

Sonnekson married Richard E. Pfeiffer. She died in 1951 following surgery. [3]

Sabena Flight 548 1961 fatal crash of a Boeing 707 in Belgium

Sabena Flight 548 was a Boeing 707-329 flight operated by Sabena that crashed en route from New York City to Brussels, Belgium, on February 15, 1961. The flight, which had originated at Idlewild International Airport, crashed on approach to Brussels Airport, Brussels, killing all 72 people on board and one person on the ground. The fatalities included the entire United States figure skating team, who were travelling to the World Figure Skating Championships in Prague, Czechoslovakia. The precise cause of the crash remains unknown; the most likely explanation was thought to be a failure of the mechanism that adjusted the tail stabilizer.

Charles Brinkman (1928-2003) was an American figure skater. He competed in pairs and won two bronze medals at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships, the first with Patty Sonnekson in 1946 and another with Carolyn Welch the following year. Also in 1946, he won the Middle Atlantic men's figure skating title. He was later a ski instructor.

Carolyn Mae Welch was an American figure skater. She competed in pairs and won the bronze medals at the 1947 U.S. Figure Skating Championships with partner Charles Brinkman.

Jennifer Don

Jennifer Don is a Taiwanese American figure skater who competed in both the pairs and singles disciplines. For most of her career, she represented the United States in competition. With partner Jonathon Hunt, she is the 2003 World Junior bronze medalist in pairs. As a single skater, she won the 2003 Nebelhorn Trophy, becoming the first woman to win a competition under the ISU International Judging System. In 2006, she represented Chinese Taipei. Jennifer is a PSA member and CER A certified.

John Coughlin (figure skater) American pair skater (1985–2019)

John Patrick Coughlin was an American pair skater. With Caydee Denney, he was the 2012 Four Continents silver medalist and 2012 U.S. national champion. With previous partner Caitlin Yankowskas, he was the 2011 U.S. champion. Coughlin died by suicide, one day after the United States Center for SafeSport announced Coughlin would face an interim suspension over unspecified allegations.

Larisa Yurievna Selezneva is a Russian former pair skater who represented the Soviet Union. With her husband Oleg Makarov, she is the 1984 Olympic bronze medalist, 1985 World silver medalist, 1988 World bronze medalist, and two-time European champion. They were coached by Igor Moskvin.

Caitlin Yankowskas is an American retired pair skater. She competed for the United States with John Coughlin from 2007 to 2011. They are the 2010 Cup of China bronze medalists and 2011 U.S. national champions. With partner Hamish Gaman, Yankowskas skated for the United Kingdom. They are the 2015 Challenge Cup silver medalists and 2015 British national champions.

The 2012 Russian Figure Skating Championships was held from December 25–29, 2011 in Saransk. Skaters competed in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing.

Ashley Cain (figure skater) American pair skater

Ashley Elizabeth Cain is a retired American pair skater. With her skating partner, Timothy LeDuc, she is a two time U.S. national champion, the 2018 Four Continents silver medalist, and a two-time Grand Prix medalist. Earlier in her career, she also competed in single skating, becoming the 2013 Nebelhorn Trophy bronze medalist and the 2012 U.S. Junior silver medalist.

Rebecca Ghilardi is an Italian pair skater. With her skating partner, Filippo Ambrosini, she has won three ISU Challenger Series medals and placed in the top ten at two European Championships. They are four-time Italian national silver medalists, and represented Italy at the 2022 Winter Olympics.
