Paul J. Begheyn (born 1944) is a Dutch Jesuit historian. [1]

Life

Begheyn was educated at the Jesuit secondary school De Breul in Katwijk aan den Rijn (South Holland) and joined the Society of Jesus in September 1963. [2] [3] In 1985 he became the first director of the Ignatiushuis in Amsterdam.

He became a historian of the order, primarily in the Netherlands, and bibliographer of Jesuit publications. He was the director of the Dutch Institute for Jesuit Studies, [4] and a frequent book reviewer in the Jesuit-run cultural review Streven . [5]

Johan Willem Emile Louis Hilgers, more commonly known as Jan Hilgers or John Hilgers, was an Indo (Eurasian) aviator and one of the leading pioneers of Dutch aviation. He was the first Dutch pilot to complete a flight in Dutch airspace 29 July 1910. For the official memorial of this in 1955 a monument was erected in the town of Ede, also a road, the "Jan Hilgersweg" was named after him.

Jan Bieleman was a Dutch historian whose specialty was Dutch agriculture from the Middle Ages on. He is best known for his monograph Five centuries of farming: A short history of Dutch agriculture 1500-2000 (2000). From 1982 until he retired in 2012 he was a member of the Rural and Environmental History chair group at Wageningen University & Research. Bieleman was an editor for the series Techniek in Nederland in de twintigste eeuw, published by the Instituut voor Transitiestudies of the Stichting Historie der Techniek; he was responsible for the agriculture section.

Cándani Surinamese writer

Saya Yasmine Amores was a Surinamese-Dutch poet, writer, and painter. She wrote under the pen name Cándani from 1982 to 2007. She then used the name Saya Yasmine Amores, which she legally adopted in 2013.
