Paul "Mr. Cool" Grima is a performing strongman from Malta.

Grima began training when he was 16 years old, and began his strongman act at age 44. [1]

Career

In 2020, Grima was 68, and performed on "Malta's Got Talent episode 5". [2] For "a number of years" he had been performing in strongman shows, where he would lift heavy fridges, and pull trucks with his hair. [2] Also known as "Mr Cool", he was "one of the Maltese legends in his field. [2] In 2019, Grima performed at a charity event. [3] In 2020 Grima at the age of 70 performed on episode 5 of the first season of Malta's Got Talent where he received four yeses from the judges [4]

L-Għanja tal-Poplu is a popular Maltese song competition first organized by Youth Travel Circle (YTC) on 5 May 1973 at the St. Albert College in Valletta. The founder of YTC is Rev. Maurice Mifsud. Initially the contest had to register as YTC members. From 1987 onward, the contest took a national dimension. The competing songs are sung primarily in Maltese and are written either by the singers themselves or other songwriters. In the 1990s the contest started being transmitted on local television stations. This contest is today organised by the voluntary organisation L-Għanja tal-Poplu and is slso supported by Arts Council Malta.

The Mgarr ix-Xini Pumping Station is a now-defunct freshwater pumping station located in the Mgarr ix-Xini valley, which used to provide much of the water for the island of Gozo, Malta. In the late 1880s, Lieutenant Governor Hely-Hutchinson requested an inspection of the water supply of Gozo by engineer Osbert Chadwick. Gozo was at the time dependent on water from natural springs and surface flow. Through observations of the vegetation growing in the deep Mgarr ix-Xini valley, Chadwick believed there was source of water close to the surface. Having had previous experience with pumping stations in Malta, he believed this source could be useful for the surrounding villages. Chadwick also reported springs in the vicinity of Ghajnsielem.

The Busker is a Maltese indie pop band founded in 2012, consisting of three members, namely David "Dav.Jr" Meilak, Jean Paul Borg, and Sean Meachen. The band represented Malta in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 with the song "Dance ", which peaked at number one in their home country of Malta for 13 consecutive weeks and was the country's most played song of 2023.
