Paul Matthyssens

Paul Matthyssens (born 1955 [1] ) is a Belgian organizational theorist, management consultant, and Professor in Strategic Management and Global Strategic Management at the University of Antwerp, Department of Management, and at the Antwerp Management School. [2] known for his work of service-oriented strategy. [3] [4] Since his retirement in 2020 from the Anwerp Management School, Paul Matthyssens is Professor of Management at the Department of Economics, Management and Statistics of the University of Milano-Bicocca. Biography

Born in Wilrijk, Matthyssens in 1980 received his PhD in marketing (special licence) from Ghent University with a thesis entitled "Marktbewerking voor industriële produkten." (Marketing of industrial products). [6]

Matthyssens started his academic career in 1982 as faculty member of the Antwerp Management School of the University of Antwerp. He is appointed Professor of strategic management and global strategic management, and chaired the Department of Management of the University of Antwerp from 2007 to 2013, and is since September 2013 Dean of the Antwerp Management School as successor of Philippe Naert. [1] Among his PhD students is Koen Vandenbempt (PhD 1999).

From 1994 to 2008 he was also Professor of Business-to-Business Marketing at the Erasmus University Rotterdam. He has also been Visiting professor at the Copenhagen Business School, and at the Stockholm School of Economics, and lectured at numerous other universities. [2]

Matthyssens' research interests focuses on "strategic buyer-supplier relations, value creation strategies, market strategy and strategic innovation in international and business-to-business markets." [2]

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Flemish Diamond</span>

The Flemish Diamond is the Flemish reference to a network of four metropolitan areas in Belgium, three of which are in the central provinces of Flanders, together with the Brussels Capital Region. It consists of four agglomerations which form the four corners of an abstract diamond shape: Brussels, Ghent, Antwerp and Leuven. Over five million people live in this area, with a population density of about 600 per square kilometre in 2002.

Willy Geysen is the head of the Centre for Intellectual Property Rights (CIR) at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven and was President of Caritas Catholica Flanders from 1996 until 2008, when he was succeeded by Guido Van Oevelen.

The Katholieke Hogeschool Kempen was a university college where students could obtain a professional bachelor's degree in several domains. There was also the opportunity to study for a master's degree in engineering in agriculture (bioscience) or an engineering degree in electronics. In 2012 the institution fused with Lessius Mechelen and Lessius Antwerp under a new name: Thomas More University College.

Adelbert Van de Walle (1922–2006) was a Flemish-Belgian architect, art historian and professor in the History of Art and Archaeology at the University of Ghent (UGent).

Willy (Wim) Van Grembergen is a Belgian organizational theorist and Professor of Information Systems Management at the University of Antwerp, and Academic Director of the IT Alignment and Governance Research Institute., known for his work on IT governance. His recent book on IT Governance: "Enterprise governance of information technology: Achieving strategic alignment and value", Springer, 2009.

Philippe Autor Naert is a Belgian organizational theorist, and Executive at several business schools and universities from INSEAD to the Antwerp Management School., known for his work on marketing decision modelling.

Robert Alphonse Paul (Bob) Van Straelen is a Belgian economist and organizational theorist, and Emeritus Professor at the Antwerp Management School, known for his work on large empirical macroeconomic models.

Koen Vandenbempt is a Belgian organizational theorist, business executive, and Professor of Strategy at the University of Antwerp and Antwerp Management School, particularly known for his work on business-to-business marketing and service strategies.

Rudy Martens is a Belgian organizational theorist, Professor of Strategic Management and Dean of the Faculty of Applied Economics at the University of Antwerp and at Antwerp Management School, particularly known for his process approach of strategic management.

Johannes (Hans) Strikwerda is a Dutch organizational theorist, management consultant, and Professor of Business Administration at the University of Amsterdam, known for his work on implementation of shared services centers in the public sector, and on the concept of multidimensional organizations.

Bjorn Axelsson is a Swedish organizational theorist and Professor of Business Administration at the Stockholm School of Economics, known for his work on industrial networks.

Joost M. A. Caen is a Flemish independent artist and glass conservator since 1982. In his workshop, he creates contemporary stained-glass windows for churches and secular buildings. In 2003 he was one of the first stained-glass artists who incorporate solar cells into a glass creation. This work can be seen in the entrance hall of the District House at Deurne, Belgium. Caen also conserves stained-glass panels and windows, mainly for museums and collectors.
