Paul Sagoo OBE (born 21 November 1974) is a British entrepreneur of Sikh origin and the founder of The Asian Awards. He is best known for his work in creating the prestigious Asian Awards, which recognize and celebrate the achievements of Asians across various fields, including business, sport, entertainment, and public service.
Sagoo was born on 21 November 1974 to a jatt Sikh family in west London. He later attended King's College London, where he studied medicine. [1]
In 2010, Sagoo founded The Asian Awards, which have since become an annual event celebrating the achievements of the global Asian community. The awards have honored many people including Sachin Tendulkar, Zayn Malik, Shah Rukh Khan, and Bruce Lee. [2] [3] [4] [5] Sagoo has also been involved in philanthropic work, partnering with Global Citizen at the Asian Awards. [6]
In 2013, Sagoo was chosen as one of the original LinkedIn Influencers, alongside James Caan and Sir Richard Branson, sharing insights and thought leadership with a large audience on the platform. [7]
Sagoo has remained an advocate for diversity and inclusion citing it as the main reason for creating The Asian Awards. [8]
Sagoo was married to Kiran Sharma, Prince's former manager, but the couple later divorced in 2020. [9]
Paul Sagoo was awarded an OBE as part of the 2022 Birthday Honours in recognition of his contributions to the Asian community, diversity & inclusion and philanthropic work. [10]
Sachin Tendulkar, is an Indian former international cricketer who captained the Indian national team. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest batsmen in the history of cricket. Hailed as the world's most prolific batsman of all time, he is the all-time highest run-scorer in both ODI and Test cricket with more than 18,000 runs and 15,000 runs, respectively. He also holds the record for receiving the most player of the match awards in international cricket. Tendulkar was a Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha by nomination from 2012 to 2018.
The Bharat Ratna is the highest civilian award of the Republic of India. Instituted on 2 January 1954, the award is conferred in recognition of "exceptional service/performance of the highest order", without distinction of race, occupation, position or gender. The award was originally limited to achievements in the arts, literature, science, and public services, but the Government of India expanded the criteria to include "any field of human endeavor" in December 2011. The recommendations for the award are made by the Prime Minister to the President. The recipients receive a Sanad (certificate) signed by the President and a peepal leaf-shaped medallion with no monetary grant associated with the award. Bharat Ratna recipients rank seventh in the Indian order of precedence.

Sukhbir Singh Kapoor OBE was a writer, educator and currently the vice chancellor of The International School of Sikh Studies and Khalsa College. Kapoor has served as a professor and administrator at universities in several countries. He has written 50 books on various topics, including Sikhism, economic theory, business administration, accounting practice, and Punjabi poetry. His numerous articles have appeared in many English and Punjabi magazines, and he has received numerous awards, including the Punjabi Academy Award from the Government of Delhi. He has also organized many symposia for drama and poetry, and has directed many plays. Kapoor is the chief editor of the Sikh Courier International. Kapoor was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2010 Birthday Honors.
The Asian Awards is an annual award ceremony for the global Asian community which takes place in the United Kingdom, with 14 categories that include business, philanthropy, entertainment, culture and sport. Nominees are selected by an independent judging panel initially co-chaired by Baroness Verma and Nat Wei, Baron Wei then from 2014 onwards Karan Bilimoria, Baron Bilimoria.

He was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2021 Birthday Honours.
